A Collection of Poems: Volume 1
()
About this ebook
This is a book that contains 38 poems about different topics of interest that include popular media, religion, and personal relationships. I try not to be pushy, seeking instead to seek truth and strive to hold a conversation with readers. My style is to write as I move freely from one thought to the next, allowing more abstract thoughts to grace the page. This is my first book of poems. It's a dream to come true to publish these poems and let them loose out into the world.
Naturally I don't expect universal acclaim, as my style and word choice will be a let down for some. But I honestly hope that my expressions of thought will somehow join in the loud chorus of amazing poets and storytellers around the world.
Thank you for reading.

A Collection of Poems - Michael Porter
Die, Live, and Live Again
Beneath the ocean of lament
There is a rise of quiet resolution.
Here, now, is the real story
Of how life turns into death.
Victory is not achieved through winning,
But winning does not always equal victory.
Can you express yourself to yourself?
Are you crippled because you are crippled?
Make the thought happen and it will happen,
Even though you reward yourself dishonestly.
Umpire your own balls and strikes,
Call yourself out, or safe; it matters not.
Tired of the same old thing?
Tired of you being you?
Arm yourself against depression, my friend.
You cannot turn the wheel of time.
Fight yourself, fight your enemy, just fight.
But do not forget how to live.
Never forget how to live.
Fight yourself, fight your enemy, just fight.
Really...Is It that Easy?
Reward yourself, you do not deserve it.
Young man, old woman, who are you?
Create a fantasy where the truth lives,
Be quiet about your loudest moments.
Kill the ant, not the spider, though.
Watch television, but do not listen to it.
Write words on a page.
Hear yourself cry.
Look outside and see the world.
Ask yourself to not condemn.
Just try not to condemn,
Just try.
And so how do you know?
How do you know who to trust?
Can trust be trusted?
Who invented life?
Do not listen to me.
Rock your own world, my friend.
Take care of your own mind,
And listen.
Yes I Think So
Music is not opinionated like art is.
You disagree with me, I already know.
Music, unlike art, competes with itself.
Music, like art, makes no sense at times.
