INTRODUCTION
SPSS Statistics is a statistical software package produced by SPSS and used for interactive statistical analysis. It makes it possible for events or problems to be investigated at the level of variables and cases. The two main aspects of Data Analysis using SPSS are listed and explained below.
Data Entry: This involves coding (preparing the data for analysis) and the actual data entry into SPSS data cells.
Data Analysis and Interpretation: This involves using the data analysis tools in the SPSS Analyze
menu to perform data analysis and then interpreting the output of the analysis to arrive at a statistical conclusion.
The following are the various menus in SPSS: File, Edit, View, Data, Transform, Analyze, Direct marketing, Graphs, Utilities, Add-ons, Windows, and Help menus.
SPSS Interface
SPSS BASICS
Open or Load SPSS
To open SPSS software through all programs when it’s icon is not on the desktop;
Click the Start button
Click All Programs
Click IBM SPSS Statistics folder
Click IBM SPSS Statistics 20 and it will open.
Creating a New Document
To opening a new document in SPSS, you have to specify the type of document you want. The following are the steps to follow:
