Kevin R. Czekalski OBITUARY
Kevin R. Czekalski, 85 of Plains Township, and formerly of Bear Creek Township, passed away unexpectedly on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the home of his son Kevin.
Born on August 2, 1939 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, he was the son of the late Rudolph and Virginia (Jones) Czekalski.
Kevin attended James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, and was an Army Veteran, serving from 1956 to 1957. He was employed as plant manager at Inter Metro, Plant #2, Plains, Township, until his retirement.
He was a member of the Dupont VFW, Post 4909, The RAM Sportsman’s Club and enjoyed going to Indian Lake Spirits, Buck Township.
Kevin was an avid trapper, hunter and fisherman from a very young age. He loved being in the woods hiking, picking berries and mushrooms. He enjoyed smoking kielbasa for Christmas and making his famous sauerkraut, delivering it to his family and friends to ring in each New Year. He and his son-in-law Vince held annual pig roasts for many years, which he took great pride in.
Kevin loved to read; it was his passion. He was a history buff and enjoyed nothing more than sharing discussions with friends. He enjoyed dining out, especially at a Chinese buffet where he would always get a full plate of chocolate pudding.
He was a hard-working man and provider, building his family’s home alongside his father and father-in-law. In his retirement years, he moved to Bear Creek where he cared for his mother and took her dancing every Saturday night until her passing.
Kevin adored his family and those closest to him. He spent countless hours at a kitchen table or garage having a beer and sharing stories and laughter with those he held dear. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and celebrating their accomplishments.
May he find his buried treasure and enjoy everlasting peace.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Rudolph, Donald, and Raymond Czekalski, his Dear Friend and mother of his children, Barbara (Minnick) Czekalski, best friend and son-in-law, Vince.
Surviving are his daughter Cheryl, son Kevin, with whom he resided, grandchildren Alea and Carissa, great-grandchildren Hailey, Matthew and Miley, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Kevin will be held Friday, April 25, 2025, at 6:00 pm at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705, with Deacon Donald Crane, officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Army. Family and friends may call Friday afternoon from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
Memorial donations if desired may be made to: VA (Veteran’s Administration) or CHOP (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia).
