Bruins' Oliver Wahlstrom: Out again Thursday
Wahlstrom (illness) won't play Thursday versus the Jets, Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic reports.
Wahlstrom will miss his fourth straight game. The 24-year-old winger may not immediately join the lineup even once he's healthy, but the Bruins have not specified if Thursday's absence is due to the illness or as a healthy scratch.

Bruins' Max Jones: Reassigned to AHL
Jones was loaned to AHL Providence on Thursday.
The Bruins activated Charlie McAvoy (upper body) from injured reserve in a corresponding move. Jones has played seven games at the NHL level this season, and has failed to garner a point while averaging 10:01 of playing time. Jones had eight goals and three assists across 26 AHL appearances before his recall.

Bruins' Charlie McAvoy: Returning against Jets
McAvoy (upper body) will be back in the lineup versus Winnipeg on Thursday, Joe Haggerty of Boston Sports Journal reports.
McAvoy looks set to return from a seven-game stint on the shelf due to his upper-body injury. Prior to his absence, the blueliner was stuck in a 19-game goal drought but was still able to chip in 10 helpers over that stretch. In addition to linking up with Mason Lohrei on the Bruins' top pairing, McAvoy should reclaim his spot on the No. 1 power-play unit.

Bruins' Brandon Carlo: Returning to action Thursday
Carlo (illness) will be available for Thursday's home game against the Jets, Joe Haggerty of Boston Sports Journal reports.
Carlo missed Tuesday's matchup against Buffalo due to an illness, but he'll be back in action following a one-game absence. Over his last four appearances, he's logged two assists, three hits and two blocked shots while averaging 18:57 of ice time.

Bruins' Joonas Korpisalo: Starting against Winnipeg
Korpisalo will defend the home crease against Winnipeg on Thursday, Joe Haggerty of Boston Sports Journal reports.
Korpisalo didn't start in either of the Bruins' last two games, but he'll return to the crease Thursday. Over his last three appearances, he's gone 2-0-0 with a 1.71 GAA and .937 save percentage. The Jets are a formidable opponent, as they lead the NHL with 3.54 goals per game this season.

Bruins' Mark Kastelic: Practicing in regular sweater
Kastelic (undisclosed) was sporting a regular jersey at Thursday's game-day skate but won't be ready to face the Jets, Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald reports.
Despite being ruled out versus Winnipeg, the fact that Kastelic has evidently been cleared for contact should be considered a step in the right direction. It will be the 25-year-old center's fifth consecutive game on the shelf due to his undisclosed injury. Even when healthy, Kastelic has offered minimal offensive upside, having failed to find the back of the net in 12 straight appearances while registering just 11 shots and two assists.

Bruins' Elias Lindholm: Grabs helper Tuesday
Lindholm notched an assist in Tuesday's 7-2 loss to the Sabres.
Lindholm has a goal and four helpers over his last eight contests. Aside from a strong second half of December, he's enjoying one of his better stretches of the season. The center has eight goals, 17 assists, 85 shots on net, 82 hits, 56 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating over 52 appearances during the 2024-25 campaign.

Bruins' Mason Lohrei: Scores in blowout loss
Lohrei scored a goal on two shots in Tuesday's 7-2 loss to the Sabres.
The goal ended a three-game point drought for the defenseman, who had six points over five contests prior to his slump. With multiple regulars missing, Lohrei was the leading man on Boston's blue line, earning 23:16 of ice time Tuesday despite being listed on the third pairing. His three highest ice-time totals of the year have come in the last two weeks. Lohrei is now at three goals, 23 points, 42 shots on net, 65 blocked shots and a minus-11 rating through 47 appearances.

Bruins' Brad Marchand: Points in back-to-back games
Marchand scored a goal in Tuesday's 7-2 loss to Buffalo.
Marchand has a point in each of his last two games (one goal, one assist), and he has 39 points, including 18 goals, in 52 outings. While his scoring is down a touch, Marchand is still firing a load of pucks (150), and he's on pace for his 10th consecutive 60-plus point season. There's plenty of value in redraft formats for a winger with that kind of production.

Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Allows two hat tricks in loss
Swayman made 26 saves in a 7-2 loss to Buffalo on Tuesday.
He allowed six goals. Swayman surrendered hat tricks to both Tage Thompson and JJ Peterka, though the latter's final goal was scored on an empty net. Swayman is 3-6-1 in his last 10 starts, and he's never really found his game since his contract hold-out. His .895 save percentage and 3.03 GAA are the worst of his career. Bruins fans are raging online about that contract already being an albatross, but we're cutting him some slack. It's hard to get in the groove after missing training camp. Swayman may be available in keeper and dynasty leagues if his manager thinks the online chatter is real. This year is a blip.

Bruins' David Pastrnak: Eight-game, 18-point scoring streak
Pastrnak picked up an assist in a 7-2 loss to Buffalo on Tuesday.
Pastrnak's assist was his 787th NHL point, moving him past David Krejci for ninth in Bruins history. It extended his point streak to eight games and 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists). Pastrnak has at least one assist in each of those eight games. Two words: el fuego.

Bruins' Brandon Carlo: Not playing Tuesday
Carlo (illness) won't play against Buffalo on Tuesday, per Kevin Paul Dupont of The Boston Globe.
Carlo was absent from Tuesday's morning skate and will miss at least one game. He has accounted for one goal, six assists, 52 shots on net, 103 blocked shots and 52 hits through 51 appearances this season. Jordan Oesterle will replace Carlo in Tuesday's lineup.

Bruins' Brandon Carlo: Game-time call
Carlo (illness) will be a game-time decision against Buffalo on Tuesday, according to Heather Engel of NHL.com.
Carlo was absent from Boston's morning skate. He has produced one goal, six assists, 52 shots on net, 103 blocked shots and 52 hits through 51 appearances this season. If Carlo can't play, Jordan Oesterle will presumably suit up against the Sabres.

Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Facing Sabres
Swayman will guard the road goal against Buffalo on Tuesday, per Kevin Paul Dupont of The Boston Globe.
Swayman is coming off a 27-save performance in Saturday's 3-1 win over Colorado. He has a 16-16-4 record with two shutouts, a 2.95 GAA and an .898 save percentage across 36 appearances this season. Buffalo ranks 15th in the league with 3.00 goals per game in 2024-25.

Bruins' Hampus Lindholm: Practices, remains unavailable
Lindholm (lower body) participated fully in Monday's practice but isn't ready to return to the lineup, Joe Haggerty of Boston Sports Journal reports.
Lindholm remains on long-term injured reserve and will miss his 35th straight game against Buffalo on Tuesday. However, he is progressing toward a return. Lindholm has three goals, seven points, 35 shots on net and 17 blocked shots across 17 appearances this season.

Bruins' Cole Koepke: Available against Sabres
Koepke (upper body) will travel to Buffalo for Tuesday's matchup and will be an option to play, Joe Haggerty of Boston Sports Journal reports.
Considering Koepke played in 44 of the Bruins' first 46 games this season, it seems very likely he'll get into the lineup ahead of Max Jones -- though Boston has won two straight games with Jones in action, so it's possible interim head coach Joe Sacco doesn't want to shuffle up his lines. Either way, Koepke should suit up sooner rather than later now that his upper-body injury is behind him. Since he has been reported as available for Tuesday, Koepke will be officially activated from injured reserve prior to the contest.
