La Spezia is mildly interesting in an of itself and has good restaurants and shops, but for many tourists it is mainly a good place to stay when visiting Cinque Terre (the 5 towns to the north) by train. The train ride is quick and cheap.Guest review byCoryUnited States - 8.0
Monterosso was a very good place to anchor at Cinque Tera.
Monterosso was a very good place to anchor at Cinque Tera. One more day would be more relaxing. This was a second time for us to visit the area. it's definitely more people than 10 years ago. The hiking was still fantastic. dinner at Taverna Galin, a very good restaurant. and we found a great bakery: Pasticceria Bar Laura, for breakfast and their sweet bread like donut without the hole, was our favorite. we went back the next morning. Cinque Terre: The entrance fees for hiking now could be costly. Getting tickets for the Lovers' Path hike at the entrance on line was not easy. After trying it 20+ minutes next to the gate, we had to go back down to the tourist office to buy the tickets. Wish they had an easier system available next to the entrance. There were two other groups went back down to get tickets as well. the public transportation, train, ferry and bus were great. We took all three and enjoyed all.Guest review byDebChenUnited States - 8.0

A nice town with some good restaurants and a small beach. Ideal as a base to visit the Cinque Terra from, as not so busy but only 5 to 20 mins on the train to see all the villages. Bar Levanto is perfect for a drink after a sight seeing visit.Guest review bySteveUnited Kingdom - 10.0

It was good to stay at one end of the string of five towns, take the ferry to the other end, and work our way back. Riomaggiore seemed to have more dining options than the other towns except for Monterroso, and wasn't too costly.Guest review byAnonymous - 4.0

I wouldn't stay in Vernazza again, the other towns were better, have more options for food, supermarkets, etc, Vernazza is very small and the restaurants were expensive, next time I will probably stay in Monterosso.Guest review byJulioUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Portovenere was a standout.
Portovenere was a standout. A stunning little port town with real charm — beautiful views, great energy, and a nice balance of local life and tourism without the crowds of Cinque Terre. You can wander the old streets, eat fresh seafood by the water, take in the dramatic coastline, or hop on a boat to explore the surrounding islands. It felt authentic, relaxed, and just the right level of lively. One of our favourite stops on the trip.Guest review byWarrickUnited Arab Emirates - 10.0
3 nights was enough to see Manarola a lot.
3 nights was enough to see Manarola a lot. We swam, had dinner nightly, met the locals in the wine bar just above the church and visited 2 other towns. Our hotel room was at the very top of the town, and then up 3 flights of stairs. It was a very steep hill. Be sure you know where your hotel is, it's a very vertical town.Guest review byLilyannUnited States - 10.0

Moneglia is a wonderful small beach city on the Liguiran coast. There are definitely tourists, however not nearly as much as the near by area of Cinque Terra. We felt like we were in a big resort since you would run into the same people throughout your trip. There are some truly amazing restaurants in the town serving amazing local cuisine such as Derna, Monile, and Bistrot Julia. We also loved the local foccacia from Tutta farina del mio sacco for an easy lunch. The people are very nice every where you go, especially when you venture a bit more into the city away from the beach. Lastly, the beach here was amazing with soft sand. You can't go wrong with a trip to Moneglia!Guest review bymillsGermany - 10.0

Quaint little town with easy access to other Cinque Terre towns. Great hiking. 34 flights of stairs from train to town so maybe not a good place if you don’t do stairs. We really liked the town but it isn’t the place if you’re looking for a party scene.Guest review byRichmondUnited States - 10.0

Deiva Marina is a nice smaller town by the sea, which is very clean. The town lays in the valley surrounding by green mountains. There is an excellent train connection through coast, you can comfortably go to Cinque Terre, La Spezia, Portofino, Genoa.Guest review byRadkaCzech Republic
