Stayed in Room 707. It was clean, had all the basic amenities and an in-room safe. Queen sized bed was comfortable. In-room slippers and bathrobe provided. Great location and a 5 minutes walk to the famous Chiang Rai Clock Tower. Despite the room facing a main road it was quiet enough to get a good night's sleep. Outside the hotel there were more than enough convenience shops (7-11, etc) and local food shops and cafe. Easy walking distance to of about 7-10 minutes to the Chiang Mai Night Bazaar.

Having lived in Northern Thailand for many years, I like an occasional night out in Chiang Rai but don't go for the sightseeing. The city has a small compact central tourist area with bars, restaurants and the night bazaar. Unlike Chiang Mai, which is rapidly becoming another Bangkok, Chiang Rai still retains some rustic, old time atmosphere that makes it appealing.

A small city with charms of its own in reach of other attractions in the north.
The culture park is a must, with an interesting museum and beautiful grounds. The flower festival by the river was a lovely day out too.

a few things to do there, not many. Waterfalls is about it.
a few things to do there, not many. Waterfalls is about it. The White Temple is WAY over-rated. It's new for one, so no real history, and it looks like some gaudy '90s glitzy structure in the middle of a busy part of town, If you are going to Chiang Rai only to see the White Temple, look at the pictures and go else.
The famous cave where a movie was made about the rescue of a middle school football team is not great. You can only go into the first chamber, which is cool, but nothing special for a cave; however, it is free.

Chiang Rai is a mixed bag.
Chiang Rai is a mixed bag. It feels like the town has been overdeveloped in the wrong way. But it’s so convenient for trekking and reaching the Lao border, and we loved our hotel (Sleepy House), did an awesome three-day trek with Lanna Trek, and had one of the best meals ever at Barrab. Bus from Chiang Mai and on to Chiang Kong easy and inexpensive. There’s a good Boots. The Blue Temple however was nothing short of hideous, and we didn’t even bother with the Disney-looking White Temple— both so far from what a temple should be.

Nice smaller town with compact and very easy 'walkable' centre. You can find almost everything a bigger town (like Chiang Mai) could offer at easy walking sistance. Pleasant night bazar with many food stalls and buying opprtunities of local artifact and otheer products. Busstation also at easy walking distancewithin the town centre area. Also a good place for organising/booking trips in the surrounding area, varying from the famous White Temple (12 km) to outdoor trekking type of ac tivities. Or a 2 day long boath trip over the great Mekong river from Thai-Lao border in the nort to Luang Prabang (as well used by tourists as regular local Thai/Lao travelers)

From my online research, Chiang Rai is enticing due to the photos of the White Temple, clock tower, blue temple, and large white Buddha. I found all of the attractions good for a nice Instagram photo, but other than the less-visited Wat Phraw Kaew, there is little of historical value to see. If you like a Disney-esque-like amusement park like temple experience where the only thing to do is get your Instagram photos, then the White Temple is perfect for you. A historical temple it is not (it was comical how you took off your shoes, put them in a plastic bag, then walked into a very small and plain Buddha shrine area, only to be ushered out to either side by the throng of tourists behind you only to toss the plastic bag in the trash and continue waiting in queues to take more photos. The actual shrine was a second thought. There was no "there" there. The town's clock tower is nice, but the music and light show is meh. Again, good for a photo. Both the Blue and White temples were built after the 90s. Anyway, good food in town (as I have found everywhere in Thailand) and lots of places catering to tourists with higher prices. I could have easily done this city in a day instead of the three I spent (and I usually like to stay in places longer than most people). Transportation was fairly easy. Bus to/from White temple from main station and easy to walk around city center. Don't miss the free art gallery just outside the White Temple, that was the best part of my White Temple visit.

The hotel is clean, pleasant and well maintained. It located about a 10-minute walk from central places in the city. The rooms are clean. The hotel has a laundry facility which is very practical and helpful.
The breakfast is good. The hotel staff is very
kind and helped us with everything we needed, including booking attractions, booking taxis and any other matter. Mainly would like to mention Al.
Thanks a lot.
Rooms are spacious and clean. Even though the hotel isn’t new and modern it’s well maintained and has all the comforts anyone on holiday would need. Breakfast buffet was great, lots of local and continental food options. Hotel has spacious parking which was perfect for us as we came with a car.
Good location, Great staff, all very pleased to welcome us. The hotel has been completely refurbished following flooding earlier in the year. So hotel has all new facilities..
Very clean and modern hotel. Bed was huge and so comfortable. Quiet location. Friendly staff. Nice swimming pool on top floor. Not too far from the old town
