Lovely clean and bright property. Very friendly staff throughout and a special thank you to Claire who couldn’t be more helpful and even upgraded the room for me. Breakfast was fresh and tasty and the entire place was spotlessly clean.

After being deeply disappointed by the standard of what I had believed was one of the top hotels in Scarborough, we were fortunate to find the Haddock Hideaway Hotel online at very short notice. My wife and I arrived at around 10.00 pm and received the warmest possible welcome from the proprietor, Jon. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this was a very special place. We stayed for two nights on a bed and breakfast basis, and the whole experience was more than excellent. The hotel enjoys stunning views from its elevated position, the food was second to none, and the hospitality was exceptional throughout. One of the most unexpected and memorable features was the working jukebox in the bar, operated by old 1p coins. It added real character and charm to the stay. Jon and Emma are outstanding hosts. They clearly go above and beyond, and genuinely put everything into ensuring their guests have a superb experience. This was a real gem of a find, and I would have no hesitation in recommending Haddock Hideaway Hotel to anyone visiting Scarborough. A genuine 5-star experience.

We hadnt realised this family 'room' was actually a little flat. We had one bedroom with two singles and a TV. The other room had the double, a TV, seating area, desk and a mini fridge and microwave. It was clean and tidy and centrally located. Staff were friendly and helpful, happy to book taxis and give advice.

Everything is near at hand, beaches, amusements etc

Everything is near at hand, beaches, amusements etc Train & bus station has an excellent service and the fares are very good. Although I didn't use any of the restaurants there were plenty of them. There's a Wotherspoons where drink is very cheap. It's a lovely high street from the train/bus station down to the beach but it means quite a steep climb back up.

big selection of places to eat and drink, prices can vary from good to over the top. typical seaside resort, fish and chips everywhere. the Richard the 3rd inn/restaurant on the seafront really good, always very busy. Be very wary regarding seagulls when eating outside.

There were quite a few good places to visit. Car parking was awful. The one we eventually got to was on the north prom and we parked as near to the pier as possible. Difficult to find takeaways for supper. My family loved the shops but just the same as those at home.

Hadn’t visited Scarborough for about 15 years sadly it has become just another tired run down seaside resort. Nothing much has really changed and the usual boarded up shops/ tacky shops/ charity shops. Plenty of seating though I noticed dotted about. Porta loo toilets for public use right behind the seafood stalls 🤢 not sure if they were for the event that weekend or a permanent fixture. The whole place just seemed dirty and run down We stayed at the north bay side just overnight for the open air theatre which I can highly recommend. The beach was lovely the area was very peaceful some nice little cafes dotted along the way. I walked to the sea life centre at the far end and had a pleasant early morning walk plenty of people about . Dogs and horses were on the beach which must be allowed at that end We traveled by train which also is at the north end . Taxis seem to range between £8.50 and £10 and all taxi drivers were very pleasant. It’s not somewhere I would revisit unless I was coming back to the open air theatre for an event but as a typical English seaside resort it was definitely packed with people spending money and enjoying themselves.

We were excited of the thought of stopping at the Grand Hotel Scarborough and unfortunately THE GRAND it was NOT. The lady on desk deffo did not go to charm school and should not be in hospitality : ( the room needed some very much love, care and attention also bed had no springs in it was rock hard felt like we were sleeping on a solid board but overall ideal if you want to put ya head down for just 1 night and that is exactly what we did we would not stop again : ( we would use our pennies else where....

I had an excellent time whilst staying at The Gordon in Scarborough. Lawrence and his family have an excellent property 6 minutes drive from the beach, the hotel itself has a home from home vibe and is very clean and presentable. The breakfast was excellent and the room was comfortable and warm. Lawrence was very welcoming and it was a pleasure meeting him and his lovely family. Roll on 2025 when we can do it all again. Thanks for the memories Lawrence, Best wishes, Paul and Nicola (room 4)
