"I don't think the score reflected the game.

"Not our best performance, but we were pleased with the way we started the game."

On facing Tottenham: "Their identity is clear and the way Ange [Postecoglou] wants their team to play, they are always looking to create chances.

On team news ahead of the fixture, he said: "Eberechi [Eze] will be in the squad tomorrow, Eddie Nketiah as well. We worked pretty hard on their rehab, and also the medical staff did an amazing job, so that's why they are available earlier than expected.

"[Other] players are coming back, [some] players have had one more week of training after returning from injuries, so this week was very positive.

"It's good when we enter a three-game week that players are back, so now we have a better situation in the squad."

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim was asked about Mason Mount: "He is working really hard. You have to understand the human also. He wants this really bad. That is the most important thing. He proved to all of you he is a talented player.

"He was a European champion. We believe a lot in him. He has to stay fit. All the guys in the team are quality players. They had to improve. He did a great job. You see some moments details where you can see Mason Mount is a proper footballer. We believe a lot in him. I especially believe a lot in Mason Mount."

  6. 'You have to be realistic'published at 14:00 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November

Chelsea v Aston Villa (Sun, 13:30 GMT)

    Chelsea

More from Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca on whether the players feel they are in the title race: "The players are just focussed on day by day, how they work and improve.

[If they do that] then we are going to win games."

On if it is nice to be asked as it shows how much team has improved: "Nice to see the team improving. It is important, it is nice, a good feeling.

"At the same time you have to be realistic. You can see the difference between us and the rest in this moment. Doesn't mean we are not going to compete and win games. We will do that to the end.

"The main focus has to be the feeling we are improving game after game."

  7. 'Matheus won't leave in January'published at 13:56 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November

Wolves v Bournemouth (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Wolves

Wolves head coach Gary O'Neil was asked if he had any concerns that in-form forward Matheus Cunha might be a target for clubs in January: "Zero concern from my part. I want him to play as well as possible and I want everyone in the world to want him. My job is to help Matheus perform at the highest level possible, so no concerns at all.

"Our relationship and his understanding of what we're trying to do here is exceptionally good, so I don't foresee there being any problems at all in January with Matheus Cunha.

"Contract wise, I'll leave that to the club. We have a real focus, Matheus included, on tomorrow's game and making sure we're in the best shape to beat Bournemouth."

Asked if there was any situation where an answer to an enquiry for Cunha would be anything but 'no', O'Neil replied: "Matheus won't leave in January, definitely not."

  8. Chelsea not in the title race - Marescapublished at 13:53 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November

Chelsea v Aston Villa (Sun, 13:30 GMT)

    Chelsea

    Enzo MarescaImage source, Getty Images

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca on if the Blues are in the title race: "No. I said many times. I didn't like the pressure. I didn't like to say yes we are there, but we are not there.

"Arsenal are ahead of us, [Manchester] City is ahead of us, Liverpool showing they are ahead of us. The important thing is we improve game after game and then we will see.

On if he looks at the table and the situations of the teams: "You think that City lost three in a row but still second. Arsenal is there. Liverpool is doing fantastic. Reason why, for me, is not about points or the table, it is about the process the programme.

"Five years together, nine together, Liverpool is different but they didn’t make too many changes from before.

"Not about the points difference on the table, it is about the time together."

  9. Putting Lemina in defence 'a decent discovery'published at 13:50 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November

Wolves v Bournemouth (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Wolves

Wolves head coach Gary O'Neil on captain Mario Lemina's switch to the centre of defence in last weekend's win over Fulham: "I think he can play there, it was a decent discovery for us, with the injury to Yerson Mosquera and some other factors that have led to us being a little bit short in that area.

"We all knew he could play there in a five definitely, but to be as good as he was in a centre-back partnership of just two was very impressive. Obviously you see these things in training, but in a Premier League game it's very different."

This Liverpool City match has the feel of when we played Chelsea and Gerrards unfortunate slip. They too came to anfield in poor form with a few reserve players and really killed the game, nullified our attack, and won fairly comfortably. I’m not over confident at all and nervous that City could do a number on us.

  11. Sarabia, Dawson and Bueno available for Wolvespublished at 13:43 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November

Leicester's caretaker manager Ben Dawson handled himself as well as could be expected - ahead of Ruud Van Nistelrooy's expected appointment.

Dawson, who joined Leicester from Newcastle in the summer, will take the Foxes to Brentford on Saturday.

He naturally deflected questions about Van Nistelrooy's imminent arrival but said the new manager's arrival needs to bring stability and certainty to a club which axed Cooper after 157 days.

Van Nistelrooy, providing there are no last-minute problems, will be Leicester's fourth manager in 19 months.

Dawson was also keen to move on from the players' Christmas party trip to Copenhagen at the weekend - which has been criticised by fans - and praised the squad's professionalism this week.

  13. 'I am hoping to win against Everton'published at 13:36 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November

Man Utd v Everton (Sun,13:30 GMT)

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim was asked at his press conference what he expects against Everton: "Win. I am hoping to win. It is going to be a different match with a lot of fighting, long balls, second balls.

"A quality coach who understands the league and the moment of the opponents. We need to have the ball because we have a short time to recover and we need to rotate the team. I hope for a win and see different things in my team, improve like we did from Ipswich to now, with Everton, without training. I expect to see different things."

  14. 'I tried to look relaxed and calm'published at 13:33 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November

Brentford v Leicester (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Nick Mashiter
    BBC Sport football news reporter

Ben Dawson found out Cooper had been sacked and he was to be Leicester's caretaker manager while at lazer tag with his family.

Cooper was axed on Sunday, with confirmation coming in the afternoon, and Dawson had been on a family outing when he was told.

He said: "I was at Lazer Tag with my two boys and my wife and a group of grassroots players and parents. I tried to look relaxed and calm. Then the news breaks publicly and you face a lot of questions.

"I just tried to digest the information, reach out to Steve, Alan [Tate] and Steve [Rands] and check they were ok.

"Like the players it’s my time off, I’m trying to spend a bit of time with my family, switch off and detach so I can come back refreshed and ready to go."

  15. What's to come?published at 13:30 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November

There is some pressure on Liverpool this weekend despite the great start they have had. Not many times in recent years have a team been able to put such a gap between themselves and City. If Liverpool win, they can put themselves in a glorious position, even if it is only a third of the way into the season, but lose, and they may just give City a sniff once again, and could live to regret it. Still fancy Liverpool to win though.

  17. City's weaknesses and Liverpool's strengthspublished at 13:22 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November

Liverpool v Man City (Sun, 16.00 GMT)

    • It's not the volume of chances that is the main issue for City defensively, but the quality of them. City concede by far the highest quality of chance in Europe’s top five leagues.
    • Only two teams are giving up fewer chances than City's eight per game on average - Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich and Getafe, 15th in La Liga.

    • Liverpool have four more points compared to their first 12 games of last season - the level of their play hasn’t changed dramatically, it’s just a bit more defensive-minded.
    • They’ve faced 37 fewer shots but taken 35 fewer.

  18. Pep's best bitspublished at 13:18 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November

Liverpool v Man City (Sun, 16:00 GMT)

    Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola spoke in his pre-match news conference earlier today before Sunday's massive Premier League game against leaders Liverpool.

Here are some of the main talking points:

    • Guardiola said "it was not realistic" for his side to think about "big targets" like the Premier League title.
    • When asked if Liverpool were the best team in the world right now, he said he believes they are "one of the best."
    • He used the quote "it's not about how many times you fall but how many times you get back up" numerous times throughout his news conference.
    • Guardiola didn't rule his side out of the title race but admitted "it would be difficult" for them to achieve if they failed to win on Sunday.
    • His last answer was near four minutes long and involved a passionate speech about rebuilding the team before finishing with the statement that he must prove himself as a manager now.

  19. If Liverpool win...and other results go their waypublished at 13:15 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November

Liverpool v Man City (Sun, 16.00 GMT)

    • In the 32 Premier League seasons, only three times have teams come from 11 or more points behind at any point to win the title.
    • City have never managed to win the title after being behind by more than 10 points.
    • Only once has a team had an 11-point lead after 13 games - Manchester United in the 1993-94 season. They went on to win the title.
    • City would become the first Premier League champions to lose four successive games the following season.
  20. If City avoid defeat...published at 13:11 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November

Liverpool v Man City (Sun, 16.00 GMT)

    • There is hope for City fans... they have clawed back deficits of 8-10 points to win the Premier League title on six occasions - and all at a later stage of the campaign than now.
    • In four of Guardiola's six Premier League title-winning seasons, they have overturned gaps of eight points or more.
