arthistoricum.net Catalogue Design
arthistoricum.net offers an integrated search for literature references and databases, images and full texts under a common interface for the specialised information service Art, Photography, Design. The catalogue accesses various data sources that form a search space defined by and curated for the specialist community with cross-media, subject-specific offerings.
For the self-determined expansion of this information infrastructure with additional data sources, we use a powerful open source discovery system that is based on the TYPO3 content management system at the front end. These technologies are completely open source and manufacturer-independent. They are jointly developed and distributed. On this basis, it is possible, for example, to search across all media types (including images, full texts and fee-based databases) and improve the clarity of research results, as well as easily integrate new data sources and art institutions.
The discovery and data management system forms the - re-usable - centrepiece of the FID art information infrastructure, around which the Heidelberg University Library and SLUB Dresden are developing sustainable backup structures and a series of innovative, application-oriented services and workflows with various DFG-funded work packages in order to make working with the data and sources as well as with the art institutions easier in arthistoricum.net.
The Search scroll to top
arthistoricum.net uses a discovery search that provides the user with a wide range of hits based on the search terms. This makes it possible to find even remote sources in which the search terms in the metadata are stored in a different order, for example. To ensure that the number of hits is still clearly organised, an adjustable relevance ranking is used to regulate the order and output of the hits. To further customise the results, the user has various filter options in the form of the facets to be found in the right-hand column. The advanced search function allows users to perform a precise search from the outset.
