Camillo Sitte, Charles Buls, Raymond Unwin, Werner Hegemann, Albert Brinckmann, Thomas Mawson, se encuentran entre los personajes más famosos que influenciaron el debate del planeamiento del periodo en cuestión, más en particular, en relación a la estética urbana. This paper is an attempt to present a sort of «genealogy» of the concept of historic centres, starting from the early modern age to the most recent documents drawn up by international bodies (such as UNESCO) who deal with the urban landscape of existing cities. New strategies for creating un urban image charged with architectural significance, like the ones that the Museums in Bilbao, Rovereto and Barcelona give to their respective cities, can help us to consider the function that special buildings can have in controlling mass tourism, at least in part. It is a question of suggesting itineraries that differ from the traditional ones and a diversification of users (tourists, scholars, citizens of different age, culture and origin, children, older people, immigrants). It is a question of promoting new routes and selecting new places of interest.

Recent years have seen a very large rise in digitisation projects in various state-administered archives in India, including the National Archives of India and regional archives in different parts of the country. This essay argues that rather than increasing access and transparency, digitisation serves to reproduce and potentially even increase state control over historical sources and memory. In addition, the elision of context in digitised collections in state archives poses problems for historical research, particularly for scholars from less privileged institutions. It is imperative that these efforts go beyond an understanding of digitisation as conservation alone in order to harness the creative and pedagogical possibilities offered by digital technology to influence, and even transform, the historical scholarship of a wide variety of users.

L’espace concerné par la fouille de la ZAC Bossut Phase 3 se situe sur l’actuelle commune de Pontoise, dans le département du Val-d’Oise de la région Île-de-France. La fouille est localisée au sud de la commune, sur le plateau Saint-Martin, correspondant à une terrasse alluviale inscrite dans un méandre de l’Oise au sud et barrée par la vallée de la Voisne au nord. L’espace est aujourd’hui fortement urbanisé. Le décapage mécanisé des 2800 m² de l’emprise de prescription a mis au jour une série de vestiges témoignant d’occupations qui se sont succédé principalement de l’âge du Fer à la fin du Haut-Empire voire jusqu’au début du Ve siècle de notre ère. Au sein de l’emprise de fouille, ce sont les vestiges datés du début de notre ère qui ont particulièrement permis de caractériser les occupations associées. Ils ont en effet permis de supposer la présence d’un habitat à proximité du site, de rendre compte d’une petite carrière de calcaire et d’étudier d’une activité artisanale de production de chaux. Or jusqu’à présent, si l’occupation de Pontoise dès l’Antiquité pouvait être supposée, elle n’avait été que perçue archéologiquement grâce à des sondages n’ayant pas été suivis de fouilles. Si l’occupation domestique caractérisée par le niveau dépotoir et la carrière d’extraction de calcaire ont pu être datées de la seconde moitié du IIe et du début du IIIe siècle, l’activité de production de chaux apparaît légérement postérieure puisqu’elle a été installée sur le site à la fin du IIIe siècle, voire dans le courant du IVe au début du Ve siècle. Elle est caractérisée par un ensemble de vestiges et en particulier par un four particulièrement bien conservé, présentant une volumineuse chambre de cuisson. L’étude des différentes structures ainsi que celle de leurs différents comblements, dont certains ont été identifiés comme des résidus de cette activité artisanale, ont permis de restituer les principales caractéristiques de cette installation de production de chaux. Les matières premières utilisées ainsi que la qualité de sa production ont notamment été recherchées, en considérant également la chaîne opératoire mise en œuvre et les structures utilisées. L’ensemble de ces éléments a pu dans un second temps nous renseigner sur la finalité de cette activité et les savoir-faire des ouvriers et ouvrières qui l’ont mise en œuvre. Après cette première validation, il a donc été possible de confronter notre structure artisanale antique de production de chaux aux rares descriptions qui nous sont parvenues par les sources historiques, mais également aux plus nombreuses découvertes archéologiques documentées ainsi qu’aux synthèses de différentes chercheuses et chercheurs qui se sont intéressés à cet artisanat. Le four mis au jour à Pontoise présente les caractéristiques des fours de type à couloir-foyer. Il est tout à fait comparable en termes d’aménagement aux autres fours de ce type étudiés archéologiquement. Il présente cependant une caractéristique particulière qui ne semble pas encore avoir été observée sur les autres vestiges de ce type. En effet, alors que ces derniers sont décrits par un couloir donnant accès à la partie inférieure d’une chambre de cuisson plutôt circulaire, le four de Pontoise a été aménagé avec deux couloirs parallèles rejoignant une chambre de transformation plutôt oblongue. Faut-il voir dans cette architecture particulière une évolution voire une innovation du type de four à couloir-foyer ? L’aménagement du four est relativement simple puisqu’il a été principalement creusé dans le substrat calcaire du site afin de ménager les différents volumes qui le composent. Seules les deux gueules du four qui correspondent aux ouvertures permettant d’entretenir les foyers au sein de la chambre de cuisson ont été construites à partir de blocs liés à la terre. Le four est installé à proximité d’une rupture de pente en bordure d’un affleurement du substrat calcaire. Cette dernière a été ainsi mise à profit puisqu’elle définit ainsi deux niveaux de travail étagés. La partie supérieure permet le chargement de la roche dans la chambre de cuisson et la partie inférieure permet d’entretenir le foyer sous la charge de roche qui sera transformée. La chambre de chauffe présente une forme tronconique oblongue définissant un volume minimal conservé de près de 14 m3. Elle est accessible par deux couloirs étroits de près de 4 m de long élargis avec des banquettes. Ils rejoignent une aire de travail de près de 88 m² matérialisée par des résidus de charbons de bois. Les analyses de matériaux réalisées sur les résidus de production ont montré que le calcaire local accessible sur le site avait été utilisé pour produire une chaux relativement pure qui peut être qualifiée de chaux aérienne grasse. L’étude anthracologique des charbons issus de la dernière chauffe du four a par ailleurs montré que l’aire d’approvisionnement en combustible de cette activité est exclusivement locale et correspond à des prélèvements de bois au sein d’une formation mésophile et mésohygrophile de la chênaie-hêtraie. L’utilisation de ces bois pourrait rendre compte d'un choix délibéré dans la mesure où ils constituent un combustible de qualité (durée de feu et fortes températures) qui présente un intérêt certain dans le cadre d’une activité où la qualité de la production dépend essentiellement de la mise en œuvre d’une réaction de calcination. La chaîne opératoire qui a pu être restituée est relativement simple. Elle débute par la phase de collecte et de préparation du calcaire et du bois. Le chargement du four intervient dans un second temps. Des encoches observées au sein de la chambre de cuisson ont ainsi été identifiées comme les réceptacles de potentiels aménagements visant à organiser l’empilement des matériaux calcaire. Une fois le four chargé, la calcination de la roche peut être menée en entretenant des foyers dans la partie inférieure de la chambre de cuisson depuis les deux couloirs-foyers qui caractérisent cette structure artisanale. Une fois la calcination achevée, une opération de tri semble avoir été nécessaire afin de sélectionner les blocs de roche transformés en chaux de ceux n’ayant pas suffisamment été chauffés alors mis de côté et abandonnés en périphérie du four. À partir de la morphologie du four et en particulier du volume conservé de sa chambre de cuisson, différentes quantifications ont été proposées à partir des formules de calcul établies par plusieurs chercheurs dans le cadre de leurs travaux de synthèse. Au sein des 14 m3 conservés de la chambre de cuisson, il a ainsi été possible de placer près de 10 m3 de calcaire à calciner. Aux termes de la calcination, les ouvriers ont pu espérer produire près de 9 m3 de chaux vive, représentant une masse de près de 7 tonnes. La finalité de cette chaux produite n’a pas pu être assurée dans la mesure où elle n’apparaît pas utilisée au sein de notre emprise. Toutefois, en considérant la proximité vraisemblable de l’agglomération antique de Pontoise, l’hypothèse d’une utilisation dans le domaine de la construction liée à un développement urbain apparaît la plus probable. Dans ce cas, le volume de chaux vive qui peut être produit au cours d’une chauffe du four permettrait de produire jusqu’à 90 m3 de mortier après l’extinction de la chaux et son mélange avec du sable. Bien qu’il soit difficile d’estimer le nombre de chauffes, ce volume apparaît déjà très important pour la construction d’un seul édifice. Ce constat conjugué à l’absence de traces d’utilisation de la chaux sur le site nous a finalement encouragé à retenir l’hypothèse d’une diffusion commerciale de la production de notre atelier. Cette proposition est par ailleurs soutenue par l’un des paramètres qui aura pu décider de l’installation de cette activité sur le site. Compte tenu de la grande disponibilité des matières premières et en particulier de la roche calcaire, celle-ci n’apparaît finalement pas constituer un paramètre prépondérant dans le choix de la localisation de l’installation. En revanche, la proximité avec différentes voies de diffusion peut être signalée. La Chaussée Jules-César qui est supposée se trouver à une centaine de mètres seulement au nord du site constitue un axe majeur qui permettait de rejoindre Paris ou la Normandie. En outre, l’Oise, qui s’écoule à moins de 700 m à l’est, constitue également un moyen de circulation à prendre en compte, puisque cet affluent de la Seine a pu faciliter les échanges commerciaux comme cela a déjà pu être mis en évidence pour la diffusion de la production des carrières du Bassin parisien durant l’Antiquité. La proximité de ces axes potentiels de communication apparaît finalement particulièrement avantageuse dans le cadre de la diffusion commerciale d’une production artisanale. La question du profil des hommes et des femmes qui ont participé à cette activité de production de chaux a été posée. La fouille n’a pas découvert de mobiliers témoignant de leur occupation domestique du site. Leur statut nous reste donc inconnu. En revanche, l’activité artisanale mise en œuvre, son ampleur ainsi que celle de sa production, laissent à penser qu’il s’agit ici d’une opération réalisée par des personnes expertes. D’ailleurs, la présence de deux couloirs-foyers qui semble pour l’instant inédite pourrait justement témoigner d’une recherche d’innovation initiée par des artisans maîtrisant leur technique. Toutefois, une question subsiste au terme de notre fouille. Ce four particulier a-t-il montré une efficacité satisfaisante ? Bien qu’il soit difficile d’estimer le nombre de chauffes réalisées, celles-ci nous semblent en définitive peu nombreuses, compte tenu du très bon état du four. De plus, les nombreux rejets découverts lors de la fouille laissent à penser que la calcination n’a pas révélé un rendement optimum. Cette efficacité toute relative pourrait finalement être la cause de l’abandon de ce four qui ne présente finalement pas de défauts structurels qui auraient interdit une nouvelle ut...

In the housing estates of the second half of the 20th century, public amenities were provided by means of hierarchically arranged public amenities centres. The aim of this work is to trace the development of public amenities centres in the last 30 years, and to try to explain what is the differentiation in offer between individual cpublic amenities centres. The theoretical part is based mainly on the concepts of construction of socialist housing estates, including the location and overview of the offer of civic amenities centers. There is also a chapter devoted directly to the city of Pilsen. The specific implementation of housing estates in Pilsen and the approach to their regeneration after 1989 are also mentioned. The case study was carried out in the regional city of Pilsen. Qualitative methods were used in the form of field research, analysis of photographs and analysis of data from the real estate cadastre. The article discusses the potential in moving from ”being
a town” to ”doing a town”, introducing some theoretical concepts and
arguments from social practice theory. The last part of the article looks
into the analytical possibilities which can be gained from this approach
by using the medieval urban harbours in Trondheim and Oslo as an
example of a social practice, a place where people, material, competence
and meaning met and entangled into complex practice patterns which
in its turn made an impact, directly and/or indirectly, on the medieval
”urban way of life”.

How and why were church locations chosen? This article covers the purposeful placement of three early churches in medieval Trondheim/Nidaros near each other around a swampy location in the town. These three churches created a sacred landscape in the town center and may have been erected on “holy places”: After the martyr king Olav the Holy’s posthumous transportation to various locations before (and after) his canonization in 1031, the holy places may have been kept as collective memories. It is proposed 1) that the three churches established a church family which played an important role in an early processional ritual with St. Olav’s shrine carried through Nidaros’ streets, 2) that king Olav Kyrre and his bishops instituted the Olav-procession in the town to venerate the cult of St. Olav to consolidate the new Norwegian regal dominion and church institution.

High-definition archaeo logy is an efficient tool to study medi eval urban economic practices. Medi eval economy has been synthesized in 'grand narratives' which obscure the regional and local variations of economic practice. Through examples from two medi eval towns in Norway and Sweden the article aims to show regional diversity in monetary practices as an alternative narrative to the grand narratives that leave a dominant impression of the past as a linear and homogenous development. The article shows the complexity and dendritic development in early medi eval monetary practice by using high-resolution data and elements from Social Practice Theory. High-resolution data is required to establish 'dense chrono logies', which are of importance when reconstructing events and processes embedded in the archaeo logical contexts, as well as reconstructing norms and concepts of social behaviour embedded in events and processes.

How to analyze intangible heritage features in their urban
landscape context? How to assess their future challenges
and potentials, and integration in cultural and urban
development? This was the focus of an experimental
workshop held between November 10 and 15, 2024, in the city
of Depok in Indonesia. Depok’s intangible heritage reflects
a rich cultural history, diversity, and centuries-old traditions,
making it the perfect case study. Indonesian universities
Universitas Indonesia, IPB University, and Universitas Trisakti,
and the Dutch organizations Heritage hands-on, KIEN, and
RCE organized the event. This report focuses on the outcomes
of the workshop and lessons learned.

Chișinău, the capital city of the Republic of Moldova, was established in the mid-17th century. This development occurred in response to the necessity of reinforcing the network of urban centers in the southeastern region of the Principality of Moldavia, particularly in areas that had come under the control of the Ottomans and the Crimean Tatars 1 . In the last quarter of the 17th century, reflecting its growing significance, Chișinău began to be featured in European cartographic documents. Thus, in 1688, a map was published in Paris, France, depicting the entire basin of the Danube River, from its sources to its confluence with the Black Sea. Among the towns of the Prut-Nistru interfluve, our city is also included, spelled as Kisinau 2 . In the mid-18th century, the town was already one of the ten most important urban centres in the country. Its rising significance as a customs and economic hub led to an increase in population, the extent of the built-up area, and its administrative prominence. In this context, Chișinău emerged as the administrative centre of the largest district in the country -Lăpușna-Orhei County. The first known representation, albeit schematic, of the town plan is contained in the map of the Principality of Moldavia drawn up in the middle of the second half of the 18 th century (fig. ) 3 . O  Departamento  de  Educação  Física  do  Estado  de  São  Paulo  (DEF-SP)  foi  criado  para  orientar  e  dirigir  o  esporte  paulista,  assumindo  também  ao  longo  da  década  de  1930  a  educação  física  escolar.  A  pesquisa  teve  por  objetivo  analisar  a  institucionalização  da  educação  física  escolar  promovida  em  São  Paulo  a  partir  das  relações estabelecidas entre o DEF-SP e a Diretoria Geral do Ensino do Estado de São Paulo (DE-SP) durante os anos de 1930 e 1938. Legislação escolar específica foi empregada como fonte documental, em conjunto com notícias  de  jornais.  A  pesquisa  concluiu  que  a  administração  estadual  paulista  desenvolveu  e  implementou  diversas iniciativas próprias para institucionalizar a educação física escolar. Ela foi incorporada nas reformas educacionais da época, porém, houve tanto convergências quanto divergências entre os projetos do DEF-SP e da DE-SP, resultando em uma institucionalização fragmentada e não linear. O esporte e a ginástica ocuparam posição central nos debates, sendo ressignificados e incorporados a legislação escolar.

Студенчество исторически являлось особой, уникальной социальной группой, что не могло не сделать его объектом пристального внимания со стороны представителей различных дисциплин, включая историков. Для судьбы отечественной высшей школы во многом ключевым стал раннесоветский период, когда активно проводилась «пролетаризация» вузов, реформировалась система образования, интегрировались в повседневность новые практики, традиции и ритуалы. Свои изменения произошли и в организации решения неизменно актуального для учащейся молодежи вопроса, а именно плачевного финансового положения, низкого качества жизни. Целью настоящей статьи является рассмотрение хода и результатов кампании «Неделя помощи пролетарскому студенчеству», направленной на помощь нуждающимся студентам и проводившейся Комиссией по улучшению быта учащихся (КУБУЧ) в 1-й половине 1920-х гг. В качестве источниковой основы исследования были использованы неопубликованные материалы КУБУЧ Ленинграда, что позволило рассмотреть вопрос на примере одного из крупнейших центров высшего образования в стране. В результате удалось установить, что только первую «Неделю», проведенную осенью 1923 г., можно признать по-настоящему успешной в плане привлечения средств на улучшение жизни студентов и действенной помощи им. Следующие попытки так оценить нельзя, и одной из главных причин этого стало превращение кампании в преимущественно идеологическую и направленную главным образом на достижение «смычки рабочих с пролетарским студенчеством», что принципиально снизило ее реальную пользу для учащейся молодежи.

The Castellani were a noble Roman family, first recorded around 1300 in Trastevere. The male line ended with the death of Lorenzo Castellani in 1608.The family is noted mainly for Girolamo Castellani (†1500) who edited the first printed edition of Quaestiones mercuriales (Rome 1472), and Mariano Castellani (1474–1527), an intimate friend of the humanists Christophe de Longueil, Pietro Bembo, and Jacopo Sadoleto. The Castellani owned land at Doi Torri (6 km south of Porta Portese), together with buildings near the Ponte Rotto, for example the Casa dei Crescenzi, which had formerly belonged to the baronial Alberteschi family.

El artículo analiza cómo se entrelazan las historias de Antioquia y el Valle del Cauca con la del fútbol y los futbolistas colombianos en las décadas de 1960 y 1970. Examina fuentes orales producto del trabajo con los jugadores y hemerografía deportiva para repensar el alcance y el arraigo de los proyectos políticos hegemónicos regionales caracterizados previamente por la historiografía. Ofrece una nueva interpretación de esos entrelazamientos y concibe a los futbolistas como “figuras públicas” y novedosos actores regionalizadores en un contexto de cambio cultural. El texto está organizado en cuatro partes. La primera introduce el problema y caracteriza la metodología. La segunda expone la perspectiva analítica adoptada sobre las regiones, el espacio político del fútbol y el paisaje político que encuentran los jugadores. La tercera describe y compara los proyectos regionales desde preguntas específicas sobre el “nosotros” de cada sociedad regional. Finalmente, las conclusiones comparan los proyectos regionales, examinan los modos en que los futbolistas se articularon a ellos y proponen unas líneas de investigación.

The research of the relations between certain rulers, territories or peoples can be considered as one of the classic topics of historiography in general and of Medieval Studies as well. The history of Polish–Hungarian contacts in the Middle Ages is no exception, several scientific and popular works have dealt with the relations of the Piasts and Árpáds, and their respective realms. Nevertheless, it is to be underlined that we can only speak indirectly about international relations concerning the High Middle Ages, the personal contacts of the rulers and the dynastic ties established between the ruling families are of great importance when studying the various elements of the relations. This paper focuses on certain episodes of the dynastic relations of the rulers of Poland and Hungary in the thirteenth century. The relation between the brothers-in-law, King Andrew II and Duke Henry I the Bearded, the case of Władysław Odonic, and his hypothetical exile in Hungary, the relation of King Béla IV to his son-in-law, Bolesław the Pious, duke of Greater Poland, the case of Leszek the Black and the marriage of King Andrew III and the Piast duchess, Fenenna are in the focus of this study.

Šie istoriškai su Lietuvos Didžiąja Kunigaikštyste (LDK) susiję regionai po 1569 m. Liublino unijos ir 1618 m. Deulino paliaubų pateko į Lenkijos Karalystės sudėtį. Nepaisant to, jų žemės antspauduose ilgą laiką buvo naudojamas LDK valstybės herbas Vytis, o tai tiesiogiai prieštaravo 1569 m. inkorporacinių privilegijų ir vėlesnių seimo nutarimų turiniui. Ir jei Kyjivo vaivadijos atveju Vyčio naudojimas žemės antspauduose vis dėlto turėjo tam tikrą istorinę tradiciją, kuri apeliavo į seną valstybinį-politinį ryšį su LDK ir galiausiai tęsė iki 1569 m. Liublino unijos susiklosčiusią praktiką, tai Černihivo teritorijoje (žemėje) lietuviško Vyčio statusas "atkurtas" nepaisant to, kad šis herbas niekada nebuvo naudojamas kaip Černihivo žemės ženklas jai esant LDK sudėtyje XIV a. antroje pusėje -XV amžiuje. Herbo pasirinkimas Černihivo žemės antspaudui bent iš dalies turėjo būti pagrįstas tam tikra vietos nobiliteto istorine savivoka, kuri apeliavo į seną politinį ryšį tarp Černihivo ir Lietuvos, nors toks simbolinis apeliavimas neturėjo atitinkamo istorinio-heraldinio pagrindo. Raktažodžiai: heraldika, sfragistika, žemės antspaudai, Kyjivo vaivadija, Černihivo vaivadija Žemės antspaudai (vaivadijų ir pavietų) sudaro šaltinių kompleksą, apimantį informaciją apie savivokos ir idėjų, teisės, vietos savivaldos, heraldikos, epigrafikos ir kt. istoriją. Nuo 1565 m. iki XVIII a. pabaigos Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštystės teritorijoje buvo naudojama apie 200 vaivadijų ir pavietų antspaudų. Předkládaná diplomová práce si klade za cíl provést prostřednictvím komparativní metody analýzu vybraných typů vrchnostenských písemností, vydávaných úředníky panských kanceláří na sklonku 16. a v 1. polovině 17. století za účelem zjištění podoby formálního styku vrchnosti s poddanými, stylu úřadování a způsobu komunikace vrchnosti s úředníky.

Besides the well-known renewed system of coastal towers, due to the increasing risk of Turkish pirate raids, a dense network of inland towers rose in the first decades of XVI century. These were often characterized by the concomitant presence of both a defensive function and a residential one. Following a chronological sequence, the paper focuses on three case-studies of this typology, the Guevara, Ranieri and di Franco towers, outlining historical notes and guidelines for conservation. Nowadays, the survival of those buildings as emblematical signs of territorial anthropization urge to face many issues. Above all, it's necessary to reflect on the meaning of their conservation today, adapting those fragile typologies to modern standards (safety, accessibility, plant engineering).

Apstrakt: U tekstu na osnovu objavljenih i neobjavljenih izvora, štampe i literature sagledavam pitanje fenomena bespravne stambene izgradnje u socijalizmu s posebnim osvrtom na prilike u Sarajevu, političkom, ekonomskom, društvenom i kulturnom centru SR Bosne i Hercegovine. Socijalnu pojavu bespravne izgradnje u svoj njenoj (iznimnoj) kompleksnosti uvelike su određivale složene društveno-političke prilike i ideologija socijalističkog društva-u prvom redu proces ekstenzivne modernizacije, industrijalizacije i urbanizacije društva-kao i odnosi definirani socijalističkom stambenom politikom tog vremena. U tom je smislu, bespravna stambena izgradnja predstavljala mnogo više od pitanja prostornog uređenja grada odnosno fizičkog izraza bespravnih oblika izgradnje, i bila je izrazom širih socijalnih, ekonomskih, ekoloških i političkih prilika koje su grad oblikovale. Dinamika razvoja socijalističkog društva davala je pojavi bespravne stambene izgradnje poseban pečat, stoga glavne uzroke treba tražiti upravo kroz analizu tih složenih odnosa. Ubrzani razvoj velikih gradova, naročito republičkih i pokrajinskih centara, koji je bio posljedica modernizacije praćene intenzivnim migracijama stanovništva, neki su od ključnih faktora koji su oblikovali ove procese. Sarajevo, sa stalnim rastom broja stanovnika i širenjem urbanog prostora, ubrzo se našlo među gradovima s najvećim brojem bespravno izgrađenih objekata. Pitanje i problematika bespravne stambene izgradnje u javnom diskursu socijalističke Jugoslavije otvara se postepeno od početka 1960-ih godina na različitim razinama, što je koincidiralo sa njenim širenjem. Located in the center of the Historical Peninsula, the Beyazıt Campus of Istanbul University was allocated to the Asakir-i Mansure-i Muhammediyye (Ottoman Army) following the abolition of the Janissary Corps in 1826 and served as the Daire-i Umur-ı Askeriyye (The Office of Military Affairs). The building, which was first transferred to the Ministry of War and is currently used as the Rectorate Building, was allocated to the Istanbul Darülfünun (The House of Science) in 1924 after the ministries were relocated to Ankara following the proclamation of the Republic. After the university reform in 1933, it was renamed Istanbul University. The former Bab-ı Seraskeri (The Gate of the Army) Square, which is now used as the Beyazıt Campus of Istanbul University, and some of the buildings located in this area have disappeared over time. This study focuses on the Bab-ı Seraskeri Telegraph Office building, which disappeared over time following the establishment of Istanbul University. The building in question, which has not been previously studied, is introduced here for the first time and examined in detail in terms of its historical and architectural characteristics. The fact that telegraph office buildings serve as historical documents and examples of cultural heritage within their surroundings makes this study distinctive and meaningful. Trial excavation work was carried out under the supervision of the Istanbul Archeological Museum, and the measured drawings and restitution projects were commissioned by the Directorate of Construction and Technical Works of Istanbul University. Considering these data, the architectural features and cultural heritage value of the building were evaluated.

Una iniciativa urbanística en el segle XIV: l'obertura del carrer de l'Hospital (Sóller, 1319-1338) Tant les troballes arqueològiques com les investigacions documentals semblen demostrar que la vila de Sóller nasqué a partir d'una o de vàries alqueries musulmanes (COLL: 1979, 278; PÉREZ: 1991, 46) i que ja en el segle XIII es trobava consolidada en un petit nucli de població. Es ben lògic suposar que, després de la conquesta catalana i tal com ocorregué a Ciutat de Mallorca (BARCELÓ: 1991, 106), els pobladors que srii establiren s'adaptaren als trets característics de l'urbanisme musulmà i anaren canviant l'estructura urbana a mesura que les necessitats d'ampliació i d'adequació a la nova organització política, econòmica, social i cultural ho feien necessari. D'altra banda cal tenir en compte que l'antic yuz o districte musulmà de Sóller fou adjudicat a dos dels magnats més importants que intervingueren en la Conquesta: Huc, comte d'Empúries, i Gastó, vescomte de Bearn, que el compartiren amb els seus porcioners. Com a resultat d'aquesta divisió, tant aquests magnats com bona part dels conqueridors menors obtingueren propietats a la vall de Sóller, sobre les quals imposaren la pròpia jurisdicció civil. Ells autoritzaven o denegaven les transmissions de domini, l'obertura de forns o la construcció d'arcs i de pòrtics, per exemple, i en cobraven els drets senyorials corresponents. D'aquí que, a l'hora de referir-se a l'urbanisme de la vila de Sóller a l'època medieval, deixa de tenir validesa qualsevol tipus d'ordinació o normativa de disposició reial, al manco fins que Jaume II no obté els béns de la porció de Gastó de Bearn. Per això, l'intent de localitzarJ^i una aplicació pràctica de les «ordinacions» per fer -noves pobles» dictades per Jaume II l'any 1300 no té gaire sentit. Tampoc no té sentit la recerca d'una normativa reial anterior a 1310 que reguli específicament la remodelació de la vila de Sóller -com han pretès alguns investigadors-, 3 ARM. ECR-31, f. 20g.

Aquests magnats, que actuaren com a "caps de fila" en el repartiment, hagueren de dotar convenientment als nobles de menor entitat que, als efectes de distribució dels béns, foren inclosos en les respectives porcions en règim d'igualtat (SOTO, 1984, 19). Entre d'ells, s'hi trobaven Bernat de Santa Eugènia, el Bisbe de Girona. l'Abat de Sant Feliu de GuíxoLs, el Sagristà de Barcelona, i molts d'altres. Es pren com a exemple la divisio dels bens immobles entre els membres que integren una de les porcions manco conegudes –la del comte d’Empuries– i s’analitzen els drets i les obligacions que acompanyen els bens repartits. Nata come piccola kermesse locale, nel corso degli anni si è trasformata in una manifestazione dalla portata mondiale. Il suo nome è "CannaTrade", una fiera internazionale sulla canapa che si tiene in Svizzera dal 2001. Accoglie ben 150 espositori provenienti da tutto il mondo per proporre un'ampia vetrina di prodotti validi, come: attrezzature per la coltivazione, accessori per fumatori, cosmesi e alimenti, informazioni sulla cannabis come medicinale, oltre alle novità settoriali. Oggi si estende su di un'area di 6000 metri quadri. La sua storia inizia 24 anni fa, quando Marco Kuhn, il fondatore, trasformò per la prima volta le "Giornate svizzere della canapa" in una fiera: "CannaTrade" appunto, in quel di Berna. Erano i tempi dei "Duftsäckli" (i sacchetti odorosi) e dei canapai, il cui numero a quanto pare superava quello delle panetterie. Il motivo era una lacuna legislativa sugli stupefacenti, che vietava la canapa, solo quando veniva consumata per motivi ricreativi. Per alcuni anni la Svizzera diventò, quindi, il paese numero Uno della canapa a livello mondiale. Ventiquattro anni fa CannaTrade era una delle tre grandi rassegne canapiere europee, insieme con la "Cannabusiness" in Germania e la "Highlife" in Olanda. È tuttavia la sola delle tre che è sopravvissuta. Il declino prese avvio in tutte e tre le nazioni, in seguito a un cambiamento del contesto politico e la Germania fu la prima a non organizzare più l'evento. L'iniziativa olandese resistette ancora qualche anno, e poi dovette chiudere i battenti, pure lei. Anche per CannaTrade, con la fine dei leggendari "Duftsäckli", le cose si misero male. Fino al 2008 in Svizzera venne ancora tollerata la vendita di semi (destinati alla coltivazione), prodotto che veniva venduto da circa il 40% degli espositori. Tuttavia nella primavera del 2008 a Berna, venne soppresso anche questo dilettevole articolo.

Die Beschäftigung mit mittelalterlicher Hospitalsgeschichte steht vermutlich -be wusst oder unbewusst -im Kontext der Diskussionen um die gegenwärtigen sozialen Sicherungssysteme und den damit einhergehenden tief greifenden Veränderungen und Verunsicherungen. Auch das im vorliegenden Band formulierte Interesse für Aspekte von Kontinuität und strukturellem Wandel ist von zeitgebundenen Impulsen und Per spektiven kaum frei. Es erscheint banal, ist aber dennoch immer wieder in Erinnerung zu rufen, dass Fragestellungen historischer Wissenschaft zeitgebunden sind und dies stets der Reflexion bedarf. Nicht zum ersten Mal hat Hospitalsgeschichte im Übrigen, angeregt von Bedürfnissen der Gegenwart, Konjunktur. Der katholische Historiker Franz J. Mone, einer der ersten, der sich mit der mittelalterlichen Annen-und Kran kenpflege im deutschsprachigen Raum intensiv wissenschaftlich beschäftigte, konsta tierte im Jahre 1861: ,,Die Literatur über Armen-und Krankenpflege vermehrt sich in neuester Zeit ansehnlich, was von der zunehmenden Nothwenigkeit derselben her rührt." (Zeitschrift für die Geschichte des Oberrheins 12, 1861, S. 5.) Die Beiträge des vorliegenden Bandes fußen auf Forschungstraditionen, die sich insbesondere seit der Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts entwickelten. Seitdem entstanden in verschiedenen historischen Teildisziplinen Arbeiten, die sich von unterschiedlichen Blickwinkeln her mit den mittelalterlichen Hospitälern bzw. allgemeiner mit den Leis tungen christlicher Caritas auseinandersetzten. Im deutschsprachigen Raum waren kir chengeschichtliche Arbeiten dabei nicht selten von konfessionellen Paradigmen ge prägt. In romanischen Ländern wie Italien, Frankreich und Spanien war und ist die Be schäftigung mit der Hospitalsgeschichte stärker in Fragestellungen der allgemeinen Ordens-und Kirchengeschichte integriert. Zu einem wichtigen eigenständigen For schungszweig entwickelten sich Studien im Bereich der Medizingeschichte, die vor al lem an den Vorformen moderner Krankenhäuser, aber auch an der Hospitalsarchitektur interessiert waren. In Frankreich, Italien sowie besonders in Deutschland wurden Hos pitäler zudem aus rechts-und verfassungsgeschichtlicher Perspektive untersucht. Seit den sechziger und siebziger Jahren wuchs das Interesse an sozial-und wirtschaftsge schichtlichen Fragestellungen, welche -zunächst in Frankreich -eng verknüpft waren mit Forschungsunternehmungen, die sich mit dem Begriff und dem Phänomen der Armut in der mittelalterlichen Gesellschaft auseinandersetzten. Etliche neuere Arbei ten betonen den Stiftungscharakter von Hospitälern und analysieren die dort betriebene Stiftermemoria. Freilich sind sowohl Studien zu einzelnen Hospitälern als auch die wenigen bisher vorliegenden Überblicksdarstellungen, von wenigen neueren Untersu-VIII Michael Matheus chungen abgesehen, immer noch den Perspektiven einzelner Teildisziplinen verhaftet. Eine Verknüpfung etwa von sozial-und medizingeschichtlichen Fragestellungen ist bishei: selten systematisch versucht worden. Was den Begriff des Hospitals bzw. des Spitals betrifft, so wurde während der Al zeyer Tagung immer wieder deutlich, wie wenig er geeignet ist, die Vielfalt dessen ab zudecken, was im Mittelalter dem Bereich sozialer Fürsorge zuzurechnen ist. Schon in den Quellen begegnet eine enorme Vielzahl von Termini, mit denen entsprechende Einrichtungen bezeichnet werden. Deren Spektrum vermag der Begriff aber auch dann nur unzureichend zu beschreiben, wenn unter Hospital nicht nur wie in der Modeme Einridhtungen verstanden werden, die ausschließlich oder doch vornehmlich der Ver sorgung von Kranken dienen. Dies hängt auch damit zusammen, dass der Terminus Hospital eng verknüpft ist mit einer räumlich-baulichen Verortung sozialer Fürsorge. Wird aber nicht nur das temporäre Verweilen von Bedürftigen innerhalb eines Gebäu des al l lein berücksichtigt, geraten Spielarten institutionalisierter sozialer Fürsorge in den Blick, die im vorliegenden Band nur am Rande eine Rolle spielen. Zu diesen seit dem 13. Jahrhundert zunächst vor allem in städtischem Umfeld, dann aber auch auf dem Land entstehenden und sich europaweit verbreiteten Einrichtungen zählen bei spielsweise frühe Formen von "Essen auf Rädern", wie sie im Rahmen von Armen brettetn und Armentafeln praktiziert wurden. Zu bedenken ist ferner, dass in vormodernen Gesellschaften Bedürftige nur teil weise mit der mehr oder weniger effizienten Unterstützung von Institutionen rechnen konnten. Über deren Angebote hinaus wird man jene nicht außer Acht lassen dürfen, die für viele Menschen von existenzieller Bedeutung waren: Formen der Fürsorge in nerhalb von verwandtschaftlichen Kreisen, solche, die auf den sozialen Netzwerken von Nachbarschaft und Kirchspiel basierten, und schließlich Hilfeleistungen innerhalb von Gemeinschaften wie von Zünften und Bruderschaften. Während Institutionen Quellen produzieren, die im günstigen Fall der historischen Analyse zur Verfügung stehen, können nicht institutionalisierte Formen sozialer Fürsorge und deren Leistun gen sc,hon quellenbedingt sehr selten angemessen gewürdigt werden. Hospitalsge schichte ist folglich überwiegend eine Geschichte aus institutionellem Blickwinkel, weniger eine aus der Perspektive der vielen Bedürftigen. Aber auch mit Blick auf Spi täler ist die Proportionalität der Überlieferung sehr disparat. Zu Fragen der Normie rung und Verfassung mittelalterlicher Hospitäler etwa fließen Quellen weitaus üppiger als zu den krankenpflegerisch-medizinischen Leistungen. WiH man trotz dieser angedeuteten Probleme das breite Spektrum institutionali sierter mittelalterlicher Fürsorge erschließen (im Rahmen eines Tagungsbandes not wendigerweise selektiv), so erscheinen aus mehreren Gründen Fragen nach den Funk tionen von Einrichtungen sowie nach deren strukturellem Wandel besonders fruchtbar. Nicht "das Hospital" steht dabei im Mittelpunkt des Blickfeldes, sondern seine vielfäl tigen Relationen und Verflechtungen. Diese leitenden Aspekte werden in allen Beiträ gen dieses Bandes aufgegriffen, wobei die Fragen nach Funktionen und deren Wandel jene nach Kontinuitäten impliziert. Die gewählte Perspektive kann grundsätzlich As pekte aller an der Hospitalsgeschichte interessierten Disziplinen berücksichtigen und ferner die aus rechts-und verfassungsgeschichtlicher Sicht bisweilen suggerierte Statik von Hospitalsstiftungen hinterfragen. Vielen ist dafür zu danken, dass die Tagung und der vorliegende Band realisiert werden konnten. Auch dieses achte Alzeyer Kolloquium profitierte von der engen Zu sammenarbeit zwischen dem Institut für Geschichtliche Landeskunde an der Universi tät Mainz, dem Alzeyer Altertumsverein, der Stadt Alzey und ihrem Museum. Zu dan ken haben die Tagungsteilnehmer, die aus Deutschland, England, Frankreich, Italien, Luxemburg und Österreich nach Alzey kamen, nicht zuletzt dem großzügigen Sponsor, der Alzeyer Volksbank, die auch die Drucklegung des Bandes unterstützte. Bewohner von Stadt und Region fühlten sich als Teilnehmer der Veranstaltung wohl auch des halb unmittelbar angesprochen, weil das Thema auch lokale Bezüge vermittelte. So brachte Susanne Schlösser den Tagungsteilnehmern die Geschichte der beiden im Mit telalter entstandenen Alzeyer Hospitäler näher, über die Quellen freilich erst in der frühen Neuzeit reicher fließen. Alle Teilnehmer der Tagung erinnern sich gerne der Unterstützung durch Eva-Heller Kameth und Rainer Kameth, die Schätze des histori schen Museums der Stadt Alzey präsentierten, das in einem ehemaligen Spitalsgebäu de untergebracht ist. Erfreulicherweise können die Tagungsakten des 8. Alzeyer Kolloquiums trotz aller Widrigkeiten -wenngleich verspätet -vorgelegt werden. Dies ist auch der geduldigen redaktionellen Arbeit von Hilmar Tilgner zu verdanken, zudem der Unterstützung von Elmar Rettinger sowie der Bereitschaft von Franz Feiten, den Band in die Reihe Ge schichtliche Landeskunde aufzunehmen. Mainz, Rom, im August 2005 Michael Matheus Frank Rexroth Armenhäuser -eine neue Institution der sozialen Fürsorge im späten Mittelalter Um das Jahr 1536 verfasste der Dichter und Drucker Robert Copland ein Gedicht, das einen bemerkenswerten Dialog wiedergab. 1 Dieser hatte angeblich jüngst in der engli schen Metropole selbst stattgefunden, und zwar während eines Regenschauers, der im Verein mit einem eiskalten Nordwind zwei einander nicht bekannte Männer in einem Unterstand zusammenführte. Der eine war Copland selbst, ein wohlsituierter Londo ner, der schon kraft seiner sozialen Stellung in der Stadt citoyen genug war, sich für die Verhältnisse in der Kommune zu interessieren. Ausgerechnet im Torbogen eines nicht explizit benannten Londoner Spitals hatte er vor dem Regen Zuflucht gesucht, und so traf er dort auf einen anderen Mann: dies war der Türhüter jener Institution. 2 Die beiden begannen, sich über das Spital und seine Insassen, über die Erschei nungsfom1en von Armut und Bettel in der Stadt und über die Lebensläufe der Men schen zu unterhalten, die beständig entweder um finanzielle Zuwendungen oder um Aufnahme in das Spital baten. Sie räumten dabei sehr wohl ein, das es in London Ar me gebe, die der Unterstützung würdig seien -kranke alte Menschen etwa, die sich nicht mehr selbst ernähren könnten und denen keine Angehörigen ihren Lebensabend erleichterten. Allerdings verwendeten Copland und der Türhüter mehr Zeit darauf, eine ganz anders gelagerte Art von Armut zu besprechen -eine Armut, die aus moralischer Defizienz, aus einem selbstverschuldeten Scheitern resultiert. Lasterhaft lebende Kle riker, die man als Stammkunden in den Alehäusern antreffe, junge Erben, die den Fa milienbesitz vergeudeten, Menschen, die über ihre Verhältnisse lebten und gemessen an ihrem Besitz zu aufwendige Kleidung trügen, Grundherren, die sich um den Zu stand ihrer Ländereien nicht kümmerten, arbeitsscheue Nachtgestalten, die tagsüber schliefen, und viele andere mehr. The series of three editorials analyze the rise and crisis of the "Modello Milano," an urban development model that transformed Milan from an industrial city into a hub of creativity and services. The "Modello Milano" emerged in response to the deindustrialization crisis, shifting the city's focus from heavy industry to "culture." This new model spurred an economic revival, attracted investment, and established Milan as a center for innovation. However, the dark side of this process is emerging. In addition to the corruption and real estate speculation accusations that the judiciary must address, the emphasis on urban branding and regeneration in the "Modello Milano" led to gentrification and rising inequality. While the transformation boosted Milan's global profile, it also made the city less accessible to ordinary residents, highlighting the need for more balanced and inclusive urban policies. The final article begins a reflection on the future of the metropolis, based on its dreamlike nature and the promise of freedom. It rehabilitates the modernist notion of "progetto" as a means of developing equity under the indispensable guidance of politics.

LA SCULTURA LAPIDEA A TROINA E L'AFFERMAZIONE DELLO STILE 'MODERNO' Tre frammenti del 'Rinascimento siciliano' Scopo del presente contributo è quello di rilevare la partecipazione di Troina al più ampio movimento artistico di rinnovamento della scultura in Sicilia tra Quattro e Cinquecento. Con l'espressione 'stile moderno' richiamata nel titolo si intende quel «nuovo stile di importazione», come lo definì Maria Accascina alla fine degli anni Cinquanta del secolo scorso 1 , conseguente al documentato fenomeno di massiccia immigrazione artistica professionale che investì l'isola tra la fine del XV e l'inizio del XVII secolo. Secondo la narrativa storiografica siciliana, a far data dal Di Marzo (circa ottant'anni prima dell'Accascina) 2 , il significativo trasferimento dalla penisola di scultori originari per lo più della 'regione laghi' e carraresi, in possesso di specifiche e inedite capacità tecniche nel campo della lavorazione del marmo, che accompagna e segue l'arrivo di Domenico Gagini e Francesco Laurana, si pone alla base del processo di formazione del linguaggio plastico moderno in Sicilia, costituendo l'antefatto dell'affermazione locale della scultura rinascimentale ad opera di Antonello Gagini, il quale ultimo, con i suoi aiuti e seguaci, tenne il campo incontrastato nella prima metà del Cinquecento, prima di una nuova ondata migratoria e dell'avvento nella seconda parte del secolo del manierismo toscano e romano 3 .

Wie neue Erkenntnisse zur handschriftlichen Überlieferung dieser Texte zeigen, war insbesondere der Einfluss der von Knut Schäferdiek entdeckten "ältesten Kanonessammlung der arelatenser Kirche" weitreichender als bisher bekannt.

The paper analyses discourses of urban order in the transformation of  Dubrovnik’s (Ragusan) suburbs into a city centre during the Venetian rule (1205-1358). In this period, the city almost tripled in size, and the process included planned long-term projects such as filling in the swampy area that divided the old town on the peninsula from the coast, the introduction of new communication routes and the redirection of old ones and the construction of new lines of walls. It was accompanied by the implementation of new legal regulations and the beginning of communal administration. Based on the written sources, results of archaeological research and spatial analysis, it is possible to trace the stages in planning Dubrovnik’s suburbs from the early Duecento. The focus of the paper is on discourses of urban order introduced by both local and Venetian authorities. The dynamic urban planning, which adapted to the population size, the terrain, the needs of defence, land use, and other factors, led to intense residential mobility and a completely changed relationship between the centre and the periphery.
