Outline

Building and Eventfulness

Abstract

The article is based on a report of the same title. Relying on texts by the late Heidegger, it presents the thesis that in their essence human buildings are not a construction of a single subject, materialized in an impersonal point of space in its capacity as a homogeneous and empty container of the next-to-other-present. Insofar as man is not an “interiority” enclosed in a body, but is always situated through his body in some event constellation, in their essence they originate from the takeover of the concrete situatedness and represent the own fulfillment of a space revealed simultaneously with their rise.
