Rugby league fans had plenty to celebrate during the PNG Kumuls Pacific Bowl win against the Cook Islands earlier this month.
But the biggest cheer was reserved for Morea Morea.
His last-minute try marked a special moment for the fullback, who came off the bench as a replacement.
His late entry to the Kumuls squad surprised many, including himself, who had spent most of 2024 battling back from an ankle injury, sustained while playing for the PNG Prime Minister’s XIII team.
The injury disrupted what had been a dream start to his career up until that point.
He scored eleven tries for the PNG Hunters in 2023 and was named Hostplus Cup Rookie of The Year.
While injury halted much of that momentum, fans didn't forget the brilliance he displayed. Neither did the North Queensland Cowboys, who have invited the 23-year-old to Townsville to train with the club.
