West Virginia Route 84

West Virginia Route 84 is an east–west state highway located within Pocahontas County, West Virginia. The western terminus of the route is at West Virginia Route 92 in Frost. The eastern terminus is at the Virginia state line five miles (8 km) east of Frost, where WV 84 continues east as State Route 84.

Missouri Route 84

Route 84 is a highway in the Missouri bootheel. It starts at the Arkansas state line west of Kennett and ends at Interstate 155/U.S. Route 412 south of Caruthersville.

Route description

Arkansas Highway 90 crosses into Missouri at Kennett and proceeds eastward. It crosses through the center of the city, passing north of the Kennett Memorial Airfield. Roughly 5 miles into its course, Route 84 becomes concurrent with US 412. The two highways serve as the southern terminus of Route 25 and, in Bragg City, parallel the southern border of the Little River Conservation Area. The roads remain concurrent until Hayti, when US 412 splits off to the southeast. Route 84 intersects a concurrency between US 61 and I-55 as it also turns towards the southeast.

As the highway approaches the Mississippi River and enters Caruthersville, it turns southward. It ultimately ends at I-155/US 412. Route 84's 30.1-mile path is located entirely within the Bootheel region and spans two counties: Dunklin and Pemiscot.

Virginia State Route 84

State Route 84 (SR 84) is a primary state highway in the U.S. state of Virginia. Known as Mill Gap Road, the state highway runs 14.94 miles (24.04 km) from the West Virginia state line near Mill Gap, where the highway continues west as West Virginia Route 84 (WV 84), east to U.S. Route 220 (US 220) at Vanderpool.

Route description

SR 84 begins at the top of Allegheny Mountain, which coincides with the Virginia – West Virginia state line and the Eastern Continental Divide. The highway continues west as WV 84, which descends the west side of the mountain to its terminus at WV 92 in Frost. The state highway passes through a pair of hairpin turns as it descends to Townsend Draft. At the draft's mouth at Back Creek, SR 84 turns north and follows Back Creek to Mill Gap, where the highway turns east and follows East Back Creek through its water gap between Little Mountain and Lantz Mountain. The state highway turns north and follows the valley through the hamlet of Mill Gap to Meadowdale. There, SR 84 turns east and follows the Jackson River through Vanderpool Gap between Monterey Mountain and Back Creek Mountain to its eastern terminus at US 220 (Jackson River Road) in the hamlet of Vanderpool south of the Highland County seat of Monterey.

U.S. Route 69

U.S. Route 69 is a north–south United States highway. When it was first created, it was only 150 miles (241 km) long, but it has since been expanded into a Minnesota to Texas cross-country route. The highway's southern terminus (as well as those of US 287 and US 96) is in Port Arthur, Texas at an intersection with State Highway 87. Its northern terminus is in Albert Lea, Minnesota at Minnesota State Highway 13.

Texas

US 69 begins at its southern terminus with SH 87 in Port Arthur. This intersection is also the southern terminus for US 96 and US 287, which are concurrent with US 69. US 69, US 96, and US 287 continue in a northwest, then west, route until its intersection with Interstate 10 in southern Beaumont. At this intersection, US 69, US 96, and US 287 merge with I-10. I-10/US 69/US 96/US 287 continue in a northerly direction through Beaumont for several miles. Just after the intersection with US 90, I-10 splits from the multiplex and resumes its easterly course, leaving US 69, US 96, and US 287 heading northwest through Beaumont. US 69 north of I-10 is also known officially known as Eastex Freeway, and is an official evacuation route, just as Interstate 69/US 59 heading north from Houston is known as Eastex Freeway as well.

U.S. Route 66

U.S. Route 66 (US 66 or Route 66), also known as the Will Rogers Highway and colloquially known as the Main Street of America or the Mother Road, was one of the original highways within the U.S. Highway System. Route 66 was established on November 11, 1926, with road signs erected the following year. The highway, which became one of the most famous roads in America, originally ran from Chicago, Illinois, through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona before ending at Santa Monica, California, covering a total of 2,448 miles (3,940 km). It was recognized in popular culture by both the hit song "(Get Your Kicks on) Route 66" and the Route 66 television show in the 1960s.

Route 66 served as a major path for those who migrated west, especially during the Dust Bowl of the 1930s, and it supported the economies of the communities through which the road passed. People doing business along the route became prosperous due to the growing popularity of the highway, and those same people later fought to keep the highway alive in the face of the growing threat of being bypassed by the new Interstate Highway System.

U.S. Route 160

U.S. Route 160 is a 1,465 mile (2,358 km) long east–west United States highway in the Midwestern United States. The western terminus of the route is at US 89 five miles (8 km) west of Tuba City, Arizona. The eastern terminus is at US 67 and Missouri 158 southwest of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Its route, if not its number, was made famous in song in 1975, as the road from Wolf Creek Pass to Pagosa Springs, Colorado in C.W. McCall's country music song Wolf Creek Pass.

Route description

Arizona

US 160 begins at US 89 near the western edge of Navajo Nation. Near Tuba City, it intersects State Route 264. It goes through Tonalea and Cow Springs before entering Kayenta, where it intersects U.S. Route 163. It continues northeast through Dennehotso, then has a brief overlap with U.S. Route 191 in Mexican Water. It goes east until Teec Nos Pos, where it intersects U.S. Route 64, then turns northeast to go to the Four Corners and enters New Mexico.

US 160 is one of the major routes crossing the Navajo Nation and in Arizona does not leave the Navajo Nation.

U.S. Route 84

U.S. Route 84 (US 84) is an east–west U.S. Highway. It started as a short Georgia–Alabama route in the original 1926 scheme, but by 1941 it had been extended all the way to Colorado. The highway's eastern terminus is a short distance east of Midway, Georgia, at an interchange with Interstate 95. The road continues toward the nearby Atlantic Ocean as a county road. Its western terminus is in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, at an intersection with U.S. 160.

The section from Brunswick, Georgia to Roscoe, Texas has been designated by five state legislatures as part of the El Camino East/West Corridor. The designation was in recognition of its history as a migration route from the Atlantic coast to the present Mexico–United States border, one of the routes that Spanish settlers called El Camino Real. (In Louisiana, the route was called the Harrisonburg Road.) The designation is intended to promote the route for both tourism and NAFTA-facilitated trade with Mexico. States are asking for Federal funds to four-lane the US 84 El Camino East/West Corridor.
