A truck stop, also known as a transport cafe in the United Kingdom and as a travel center by major chains in the United States, is a commercial facility which provides refuelling, rest (parking), and often ready-made food and other services to motorists and truck drivers. Truck stops are usually located on or near a busy road.
Smaller truck stops might consist of only a parking area, a fueling station, and perhaps a diner restaurant. Larger truck stops might have convenience stores of various sizes, showers, a small video arcade, and a TV/movie theater (usually just a projector with an attached DVD player). The largest truck stops, like Iowa 80 (the largest in the world), might have several independent businesses operating under one roof, catering to a wide range of travelers' needs, and might have several major and minor fast-food chains operating a small food court. Larger truck stops also tend to have full-service maintenance facilities for heavy trucks, as well as vehicle wash services that can handle anything from passenger vehicles to large trucks. Some truck stops operate motels or have them adjacent. Most truck stops now offer separate fueling areas, often with dedicated entrances, for standard-sized passenger vehicles. The truck refueling area almost always offers dual pumps, one on each side, so large trucks can fill both tanks at once. (The second pump is referred to as the "slave pump" or "satellite pump.")
Truck Stop was released on 3 June 2009, and is a Lasse Stefanz studio album. It sold platinum in Sweden.
Truck stop is a previously best-selling German country band from Seevetal-Maschen, Harburg, south of Hamburg, that has been performing for over 40 years.
Originally singing in English, the band converted to German in 1977 with its album Zuhause (Home), which sold 150,000 copies. From this album, the single "Die Frau mit dem Gurt" reached number 27 on the German hit parade. Another song on the album, "Ich möchte so gern Dave Dudley hör’n" ("I Would Like So Much to Hear Dave Dudley"), reached number nine on the German single hit parade in April 1978. The band earned number one placement with the singles "Der wilde, wilde Westen" and "Old Texas Town" in 1980 and 1981.
In their 40 plus year tenure, the band have released at least eleven albums plus anniversary compilations, and dozens of singles.
The Ink Spots were an African-American pop vocal group who gained international fame in the 1930s and 1940s. Their unique musical style led to the rhythm and blues and rock and roll musical genres, and the subgenre doo-wop. The Ink Spots were widely accepted in both the white and black communities, largely due to the ballad style introduced to the group by lead singer Bill Kenny.
In 1989, the Ink Spots (Bill Kenny, Deek Watson, Charlie Fuqua and Hoppy Jones) were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 1999 they were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame. Since the Ink Spots disbanded in 1954, there have been well over 100 vocal groups calling themselves "The Ink Spots" without any right to the name, and without any original members of the group. These groups often have claimed to be "2nd generation" or "3rd generation" Ink Spots.
The Ink Spots formed in the early 1930s in Indianapolis. The founding members were:
As "Jerry and Charlie", Jerry Daniels and Charlie Fuqua had formed a vocal duo performing in the Indianapolis area around 1931. About the same time, Jones and Watson were part of a quartet, "The Four Riff Brothers", who appeared regularly on radio station WLW in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1933, that group disbanded, and Watson, Daniels and Fuqua got together to form a new vocal, instrumental and comedy group, which was initially called "King, Jack, and Jester". They continued to appear regularly on radio in Ohio, and became a foursome when Jones was added to the group the following year.
Maybe you'll think of me when you are all alone
Maybe the one who is waiting for you will prove untrue
Then what will you do?
Maybe you'll sit and sigh, wishing that I were near
Then maybe you'll ask me to come back again
And maybe I'll say "maybe"
Maybe you'll think of me when you are all alone
Maybe the one who is waiting for you will prove untrue
Then what will I do?
Maybe you'll sit and sigh, wishing that I were near
Then maybe you'll ask me to come back again
