Need (novel series)

Need is a series of young-adult urban fantasy novels by American author Carrie Jones, beginning with the inaugural entry of the same name. The focus of the story is a teenage girl named Zara, who joins a struggle against a society of malicious pixies. As the books progress, Zara encounters a series of personal challenges, and bonds with new friends and romantic interests.

Overview

The series follows Zara White, a strong-willed girl who is prone to helping others. Following the death of her stepfather, she is sent to live with her step-grandmother in Maine as part of her recovery. Zara discovers that her new town is home to a slew of vicious pixies, headed by a king, and becomes a prominent figure in the opposition. they are shifters in her life. Amidst the conflict, she meets several new friends and allies, including paranormal romantic interest named Nick.

Background

Story development

Author Carrie Jones has claimed that she was inspired to write the story upon seeing a peculiarly dressed person at a fair, after which she began to envision certain images and scenarios within the tale. The author was particularly interested in writing about pixies, believing them to be a largely unexplored subject in folklore.

Stargate SG-1 (season 2)

Season two of Stargate SG-1, an American-Canadian television series, began airing on June 26, 1998 on Showtime. The second season concluded after 22 episodes on February 10, 1999 on British Sky One, which overtook Showtime in mid-season. The series was developed by Brad Wright and Jonathan Glassner, who also served as executive producers. Season two regular cast members include Richard Dean Anderson, Michael Shanks, Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge, and Don S. Davis.

Production

Vaitiare Bandera, who plays Sha're, was actually pregnant with Michael Shanks' child during the filming of "Secrets". Following the events in the episode "A Matter of Time", Sally Malcolm would write two books, A Matter of Honor and The Cost of Honor, that detail SG-1's attempts to save SG-10 from the planet. The late Season 2 episode "Serpent's Song" was the first SG-1 episode that was directed by Peter DeLuise. He would go on to direct more episodes than any other director involved with the series, even passing Martin Wood, who began directing in Season 1. "Out Of Mind" was the second time a clip show has been used, the first being Season 1 episode "Politics".

Frisco, Texas

Frisco is a city located in Collin and Denton counties in Texas. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, and is located approximately 25 miles (40 km) from both Dallas Love Field and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

The city population was 116,989 at the 2010 census. As of December 17, 2015, the city had an estimated population of 151,960. Frisco was the fastest-growing city in the United States in 2009, and also the fastest-growing city in the nation from 2000 to 2009. In the late 1990s, the northern Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex suburban development tide hit the northern border of Plano and spilled into Frisco, sparking explosive growth into the 2000s. Like many of the cities located in the booming northern suburbs of Dallas, Frisco serves as a bedroom community for many professionals who work in the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex.

Since 2003, Frisco has received the designation "Tree City USA" by the National Arbor Day Foundation.

Loving (TV series)

Loving is an American television soap opera that ran on ABC from June 26, 1983, to November 10, 1995, a total of 3,169 episodes. The serial, set in the fictional town of Corinth, Pennsylvania, was co-created by Agnes Nixon and former actor Douglas Marland.

The show was broadcast in France under the title Amoureusement Votre (Lovingly Yours), in Croatia as Ljubav, in Germany as Loving - Wege der Liebe, and in Italy as Quando si ama (When someone loves). Loving premiered on June 26, 1983 as a two-hour primetime movie and on the next day became a half-hour weekday soap opera.

On July 4, 1995, ABC canceled Loving due to low ratings, and its final episode aired on November 10, 1995. On November 13, 1995, the following Monday, ABC replaced Loving with its spin-off The City, which ran until on March 27, 1997.

History

With the established and successful ABC daytime soaps veering into a new trend of youth orientation and action/adventure storylines, a format heavy influenced by Gloria Monty on General Hospital, creators Agnes Nixon and Douglas Marland set out to develop a new series that would be introduced as a traditional, classic soap opera for the 1980s. Romance would be the show's key centerpiece; its original working title was Love Without End. By early 1983, the new creation was fully developed, as Loving, with a cast set for both a primetime premiere and a weekday run.
