Necromancy (/ˈnɛkrəˌmænsi, -roʊ-/) or nigromancy is a form of magic involving communication with the deceased – either by summoning their spirit as an apparition or raising them bodily – for the purpose of divination, imparting the means to foretell future events or discover hidden knowledge, or to use the deceased as a weapon, as the term may sometimes be used in a more general sense to refer to black magic or witchcraft.
The word "necromancy" is adapted from Late Latin necromantia, itself borrowed from post-Classical Greek νεκρομαντεία (nekromanteía), a compound of Ancient Greek νεκρός (nekrós), "dead body", and μαντεία (manteía), "prophecy or divination"; this compound form was first used by Origen of Alexandria in the 3rd century BC. The Classical Greek term was ἡ νέκυια (nekyia), from the episode of the Odyssey in which Odysseus visits the realm of the dead and νεκρομαντεία in Hellenistic Greek, rendered as necromantīa in Latin, and as necromancy in 17th-century English.
Necromancy (a.k.a. The Witching) is a 1972 horror film directed by Bert I. Gordon and starring Orson Welles and Pamela Franklin.
A strange and sinister man, Mr. Cato (Orson Welles), wields extraordinary power in the small town of Lilith. The townsfolk indulge in weird rituals in their pursuit of necromancy, bring the dead back to life. Against this disturbing background a beautiful young girl, Lori (Pamela Franklin), becomes the human catalyst. She is married to one of Cato's workers and holds the key between life and death: what Cato and his followers have in mind is using Lori to bring back Cato's dead son.
The film was released theatrically in the United States by Cinerama Releasing Corporation in 1972.
The film was released on VHS in the U.S. as The Witching by both Paragon Video Productions and Magnum Entertainment in the 1983. It was released as Necromancy on DVD by Video International on February 11, 2008

of the dead.

forth to answer now, a wisper in the air.
thou shall answer now and do so truthfully, for im at one
with satan, the dark one lives in me.
and by his will,i summon thee, come forth at once and
hearken to me
arise from thy slumber,to answer my call; take a form
that is pleasing to me or his wrath shall befall.
shade of mortal man, come forth to answer now,for im at
one with satan,it is,he who commands...thee.
when thou hast answered,in honesty, ill grant thee
license to depart.
