The 2015 Mutua Madrid Open was a professional tennis tournament that was played on outdoor clay courts at the Park Manzanares in Madrid, Spain from 3–10 May. It was the 14th edition of the event on the ATP World Tour and 7th on the WTA Tour. It was classified as an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event on the 2015 ATP World Tour and a Premier Mandatory event on the 2015 WTA Tour.

Ion Țiriac the former Romanian ATP player and now billionaire businessman is the current owner of the tournament.

The 2011 Madrid Masters (also known as the Mutua Madrid Open for sponsorship reasons) was played on outdoor clay courts at the Park Manzanares in Madrid, Spain from 30 April – 8 May. It was the 10th edition of the event on the ATP and 3rd on the WTA. It was classified as an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event on the 2011 ATP World Tour and a Premier Mandatory event on the 2011 WTA Tour.

Madrid Open (tennis)

The Madrid Open, currently sponsored by Mutua Madrileña, is a male and female professional tennis tournament, currently held in Madrid, Spain, during the first week of May. The event is classified as an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event on the Association of Tennis Professionals tour and a Premier Mandatory event on the Women's Tennis Association tour. In the past it has also been known as the Mutua Madrileña Madrid Open and before that the Madrid Masters. Despite having been played on blue courts in the 2012 tournament edition the ATP decided against it for the 2013 edition.

Ion Ţiriac, former Romanian ATP player and now billionaire businessman, is the current owner of the tournament. Țiriac stated that he has an annual net profit of over €35 million and that his tournament brings to Madrid revenues exceeding €200 million.

History

From 1990 through 2008, the tournament was classified as an ATP Masters Series event on the men's tour. The event was held in Essen, Germany in 1995 and Stockholm, Sweden from 1990 through 1994. When the tournament moved from Stockholm to Essen, the Stockholm Open continued as an ATP World Series tournament. From 1996 through 2001, the event was held in Stuttgart, Germany and from 2002 through 2008 at the Madrid Arena. The tournament was played from 1990 through 2008 on indoor hardcourts. In 2009, the surface became clay courts, the venue was changed to the Park Manzanares, and the tournament was expanded to include WTA professionals.

Madrid Open (golf)

The Madrid Open was an annual men's golf tournament which was held in and around the Spanish capital Madrid from 1968 to 2007, apart from a seven-year gap from 1994 to 2000.

It was an official money event on the European Tour since the tour's first official season in 1972 until 2007. Spain was the only country other than the UK which hosted more than one event in 1972, the other tournament in the country being the Spanish Open.

The tournament has had several sponsored names over the years. In 2006 the tournament moved to a new slot and was played the same September week as the 16-man HSBC World Match Play Championship. The 2006 prize fund was €1 million, which is one of the smaller purses on the European Tour. In 2007, the event moved to October, but it was once again be an alternate event to the HSBC World Match Play Championship, which was also rescheduled. It was dropped from the 2008 schedule, with a new tournament named the Madrid Masters taking its place.

Madrid (band)

Madrid is a Canadian electronic music group formed in 2003 in Toronto. The band consists of Adam Perry (guitars, keys, vox), Duncan Christie (bass, keys, vox) and Eric Lightfoot (drums). Their music is a combination of Electro, Shoegaze, and Psychedelia.

Madrid's 2003 debut Warm Waters was released on record label Aporia and was featured on the BBC. Madrid's followed-up this release with the First Message EP.

The first single, "Reply (To Everyone)". was featured on Pitchfork Media 2 and Spinner.com.

Madrid's unique live performance has seen them share the stage with international artists such as Friendly Fires and M83. In November 2009, Madrid toured across Canada with DJ Champion & His G-Strings.

Madrid has also had their work remixed by other notable acts such as Ulrich Schnauss, vitaminsforyou, The Cansecos, and dubstep-impresario XI.

In March 2011, Madrid released their full-length recording, Original Message on Awesome Music and distributed by EMI Records.
