In jazz improvisation, outside playing, describes an approach where one plays over a scale, mode or chord that is harmonically distant from the given chord. There are several common techniques to playing outside, that include side-stepping or side-slipping, superimposition of Coltrane changes, and polytonality.
The term side-slipping or side-stepping has been used to describe several similar yet distinct methods of playing outside. In one version, one plays only the five "'wrong'" non-scale notes for the given chord and none of the seven scale or three to four chord tones, given that there are twelve notes in the equal tempered scale and heptatonic scales are generally used. Another technique described as sideslipping is the addition of distant ii-V relationships, such as a half-step above the original ii-V. This increases chromatic tension as it first moves away and then towards the tonic. Lastly, side-slipping can be described as playing in a scale a half-step above or below a given chord, before resolving, creating tension and release.

Vertigo is when a person feels as if they or the objects around them are moving when they are not. Often it feels like a spinning or swaying movement. This may be associated with nausea, vomiting, sweating, or difficulties walking. It is typically worsened when the head is moved. Vertigo is the most common type of dizziness.
The most common diseases that result in vertigo are benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, Ménière's disease, and labyrinthitis. Less common causes include stroke, brain tumors, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, and migraines. Physiologic vertigo may occur following being exposed to motion for a prolonged period such as when on a ship or simply following spinning with the eyes closed. Other causes may include toxin exposures such as to carbon monoxide, alcohol, or aspirin. Vertigo is a problem in a part of the vestibular system. Other causes of dizziness include presyncope, disequilibrium, and non-specific dizziness.
Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo is more likely in someone who gets repeated episodes of vertigo with movement and are otherwise normal between these episodes. The episodes of vertigo should last less than one minute. The Dix-Hallpike test typically produces a period of rapid eye movements known as nystagmus in this condition. In Ménière's disease there is often ringing in the ears, hearing loss, and the attacks of vertigo last more than twenty minutes. In labyrinthitis the onset of vertigo is sudden and the nystagmus occurs without movement. In this condition vertigo can last for days. More severe causes should also be considered. This is especially true if other problems such as weakness, headache, double vision, or numbness occur.
Vertigo, in comics, may refer to:
Vertigo is an Israeli modern dance company. It was established by Noa Wertheim and Adi Sha'al in Jerusalem in 1992. The company’s first performance was a duet featuring Wertheim and Sha’al called Vertigo. Following the group’s appearances in various festivals in Israel and around the world, Vertigo has received recognition, positive reviews, and several awards from professionals and local and international audiences. The group mainly presents works by Wertheim, but it also showcases pieces by independent choreographers from within and outside the company. The company's studios are in Jerusalem and Kibbutz Netiv Halamed-Heh, where it established an ecological arts village in 2007. Vertigo's main focuses are modern dance, Contact Improvisation and the classic ballet technique.
The Vertigo Dance Company is funded by the Jerusalem Municipality and the division and the division of modern dance in the Ministry of Culture and Sport’s Culture Authority.
Vertigo founders Wertheim and Sha'al both serve as the company’s head director and arts director. Wertheim was born in 1965 in the United States. In 1990, Noa graduated from the Rubin Academy of Music and Dance in Jerusalem. While studying at the academy, she became a member of the Jerusalem modern dance group Tamar, where she met Sha'al, whose professional dance experience included the Bat-Sheva Ensemble and the Kibbutz Dance Workshop. Wertheim and Sha’al later married and today have three children.
A broken soul on the edge to insanity
Not knowing right from wrong or what is true or false
Making up your own rules of how to live your life
Don't you ever ever think about anyone else?
Inside your mind there's a never ending battle
Between the lies and the words that speaks the truth
Take what you can before is it all over
Your evil deeds will in the end bring you down
Go back in time to when you were much younger
The scars in your soul forced you to be strong
Aggression, disbelief, controlling your life
Confrontation seems like the only way
Inside your mind there's a never ending battle
Between the lies and the words that speaks the truth
Take what you can before is it all over
Your evil deeds will in the end bring you down
Searching for answers
In the emptiness between dream and reality
The secrets of life hidden deep in your mind
Carefully kept away from the outside world
Inside your mind there's a never ending battle
Between the lies and the words that speaks the truth
Take what you can before is it all over
