Asylum is a 2003 American short documentary film directed by Sandy McLeod. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Short.
Synopsis
A young Ghanaian woman seeks refugee status in the U.S. when her father attempts to force her to marry against her will, and undergo female genital mutilation.

Asylum case
Colombia v Perú [1950] ICJ 6 (also known as the Asylum Case) is a public international law case, decided by the International Court of Justice. The ICJ recognised that the scope of Article 38 of the Statute of the International Court of Justice encompassed bi-lateral and regional international customary norms as well as general customary norms, in much the same way as it encompasses bilateral and multilateral treaties. The Court also clarified that for custom to be definitively proven, it must be continuously and uniformly executed.
Facts
The Colombian Ambassador in Lima, Perú allowed Víctor Raúl Haya de la Torre, head of the American People's Revolutionary Alliance sanctuary after his faction lost a one-day civil war in Peru on 3 October 1949. The Colombian government granted him asylum, but the Peruvian government refused to grant him safe passage out of Peru.
Colombia maintained that according to the Conventions in force - the Bolivian Agreement of 1911 on Extradition, the Havana Convention of 1928 on Asylum, the Montevideo Convention of 1933 on Political Asylum - and according to American International Law, they were entitled to decide if asylum should be granted and their unilateral decision on this was binding on Perú.
Mix (Stellar album)
Mix is the debut studio album by New Zealand Pop rock band Stellar, released by Sony BMG on 29 July 1999. The album debuted at #2 on the RIANZ albums chart, and after seven weeks within the top 10 would finally reach the #1 position. The album would spend a whole 18 weeks within the top 10 on the charts. The album was certified 5x platinum, meaning that it had sold over 75,000 copies in New Zealand.
The album was re-released on 18 February 2000 as a limited edition which included a new cover art and a bonus CD-rom that included the music videos for the singles "Part of Me", "Violent" and "Every Girl" as well as three remixes (these had appeared on previous singles) and an 8-minute documentary. Even after the limited edition's run had finished, all subsequent pressings of the album would feature the new cover.
Mix became the 22nd best-selling album in 2000 in New Zealand. At the New Zealand Music Awards in 2000, Mix won the Album of the Year award.

CKFM-FM
CKFM-FM, also known as 99-9 Virgin Radio, is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting at 99.9 on the FM dial in Toronto, Ontario. The station is owned by Bell Media. The station airs a CHR format (as it reports to BDS and Mediabase as a Canadian Top 40 Airplay panel Canadian CHR reporter), and is the flagship of Canada's Virgin Radio stations. CKFM's studios are located at 250 Richmond Street West in the Entertainment District, while its transmitter is located atop the CN Tower.
History
The station was launched in 1938 by the Rogers Radio Broadcasting Co. Ltd. (operated by the father of the founder of Rogers Communications, Ted Rogers Sr.) as experimental FM station VE9AK. The station went off the air between 1942 and 1945 due to the war. It began broadcasting at 99.9 FM in 1947 as CFRB-FM, a simulcast of CFRB AM. Rogers Radio Broadcasting eventually became known as Standard Broadcasting which was acquired by Argus Corporation in 1948.
In 1960, the complete simulcast was dropped, in favour of some unique programming.
