Graba'

Ignace De Graeve (Ghent, September 24, 1940 - Bruges, January 17, 2016) was a Belgium artist - name Graba'. He created mainly paintings and jewellery.

Biography

Graba’ enjoyed a very eclectic education first in history, followed by decorative arts (Ghent) and finally audiovisual media (Paris). During eight years, he was a critic for the Belgian Radio and Television hosting radio programs classical music and gave lectures on ‘how to listen to music’ in several cities. He led an international design agency for five years and provided numerous institutions, societies and companies with a new brand image. As artistic director of “Language of forms” he was responsible for the creation and realisation of the Belgian pavilion for the 1985 World’s fair at Tsukuba, Ibaraki (J), the Flanders Hotel in Gent (B), the Flemish-Japanese golf club in Hasselt (B), the Markies Building in Brussels and buildings in Hong Kong and Singapore. He lived in Paris (F) since 1979 and worked in France, Belgium and Portugal.

Lenauheim

Lenauheim is a commune in Timiș County, Banat, Romania. It is composed of three villages: Bulgăruș, Grabaț and Lenauheim.

Name

The name Lenauheim is official since 1926. It was also called Cetad or Cetat in Romanian; Schadat, Schaddat or Tschatad in German; and Csatád in Hungarian. Bulgăruș is called Bogarosch in German and Bogarós in Hungarian. The German name for Grabaț is Grabatz, while in Hungarian, it is Garabos.

History

The Lenauheim village was founded by German colonists (Banat Swabians) in 1767. Originally called Csatád, in 1926 the village was renamed Lenauheim after the poet Nikolaus Lenau who was born here.

Demographics

In 1865. Lenauheim had c. 3200 inhabitants. In 1940, it had 2400, out of which 95% ethnic Germans. After the Second World War, the proportion of Germans fell to 50%. In 1992, out of 1400 inhabitants there were 346 Germans; in 2006, only 59.
