Earthbound (1940 film)
Earthbound is a 1940 film directed by Irving Pichel. It stars Warner Baxter and Andrea Leeds. It is a remake of the 1920 silent film of the same name, Earthbound. Critical reception to the film was generally negative.
Plot
Nick (Warner Baxter) and Ellen (Andrea Leeds) are celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary by going mountain climbing in Switzerland when Nick receives a telegram asking him to go back to Paris to assist friend Jeffrey Reynolds (Henry Wilcoxon) in setting up a new laboratory. After telling Ellen that he will return in a couple of days, he goes. On the train, Nick encounters an elderly stranger named Whimser (Charley Grapewin) who warns him that he will not live much longer. In Paris, Nick goes to the laboratory, where he discovers that it was Linda Reynolds (Lynn Bari), Jeff's wife, who sent the telegram, as the two are in a secret relationship and Linda has decided to leave her husband for Nick. Nick tells Linda he wishes to end their affair because he loves his wife Ellen, not Linda.

Lubrication theory
In fluid dynamics, lubrication theory describes the flow of fluids (liquids or gases) in a geometry in which one dimension is significantly smaller than the others. An example is the flow above air hockey tables, where the thickness of the air layer beneath the puck is much smaller than the dimensions of the puck itself.
Internal flows are those where the fluid is fully bounded. Internal flow lubrication theory has many industrial applications because of its role in the design of fluid bearings. Here a key goal of lubrication theory is to determine the pressure distribution in the fluid volume, and hence the forces on the bearing components. The working fluid in this case is often termed a lubricant.
Free film lubrication theory is concerned with the case in which one of the surfaces containing the fluid is a free surface. In that case the position of the free surface is itself unknown, and one goal of lubrication theory is then to determine this. Surface tension may then be significant, or even dominant. Issues of wetting and dewetting then arise. For very thin films (thickness less than one micrometre), additional intermolecular forces, such as Van der Waals forces or disjoining forces, may become significant.

Earthbound (King Crimson album)
Earthbound is a live album by the band King Crimson, released in 1972 as a budget record shortly after the line-up that recorded it had broken up. It contains the band's first official live release of their signature song "21st Century Schizoid Man," and an extended live version of their 1970 non-LP B-side "Groon." It also contains two improvised tracks with scat vocals from Boz Burrell.
The album's sound quality is very poor, because of its being recorded onto cassette tape (a low-fidelity recording medium by 1972 standards) by live sound engineer Hunter MacDonald. The liner notes to recent CD reissues of the album state that it was "captured live on an Ampex stereo cassette fed from a Kelsey Morris custom built mixer ... in the rain from the back of a Volkswagen truck." Atlantic Records, King Crimson's original North American distributor, declined release of Earthbound because of its poor sound engineering. Because of its cassette origins, the sound could not be significantly improved on later CD reissues of the album.
