Chamberlain John Deere

Chamberlain John Deere is a brand of tractors from Australia.

While Bob Chamberlain was working as a tractor mechanic in Victoria he designed a tractor and built a prototype tractor around what he believed farmers wanted. It became the basis of the 40K model tractor.

The Western Australian Government having heard of Bob Chamberlain's plan to build tractors persuaded the Chamberlains to use an ex-munitions factory (31°59′31.25″S 115°55′25.81″E / 31.9920139°S 115.9238361°E / -31.9920139; 115.9238361); in Welshpool, Western Australia. Thus the first Tractors rolled off the production line in 1949.

The first Chamberlain tractor produced was the model 40k which had 40 horsepower (30 kW) twin-cylinder, horizontally opposed engines. They weighed about four tonnes and were considered to be ideal for the needs of Australian farmers.

In 1953 Chamberlain started to produce diesel powered tractors such as the GM diesel powered 60DA and later the 70DA, as well as the 55DA, which was powered by an Australian built diesel engine. A few years later the production of kerosene powered tractors was stopped. In 1955 Chamberlain developed the Perkins diesel powered Champion models and as a publicity stunt in the same year Chamberlains entered the new diesel powered tractor in the Redex around Australia rally as a rescue/recovery vehicle. It became known as "Tail End Charlie" The tractor in question was fitted with modified cab, bench seat and high speed gears (allowing it to reach speeds of up to 110 km/hour ). Initial attempts to enter the event were met with disbelief, and it was only officially recognised as a recovery vehicle for one leg of the rally. Tail-End Charlie is reputed to have completed one stage of the race while towing as many as six other entrants that broke down on the way. In a subsequent rally, the powers that be relented, and the Chamberlain machine completed the whole course.

Deere & Company (brand name John Deere) is an American corporation that manufactures agricultural, construction, and forestry machinery, diesel engines, drivetrains (axles, transmissions, gearboxes) used in heavy equipment, and lawn care equipment. In 2014, it was listed as 80th in the Fortune 500 America's ranking and was ranked 307th in the Fortune Global 500 ranking in 2013.

John Deere also provides financial services and other related activities.

Deere is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbols DE. The company's slogan is "Nothing Runs Like a Deere", and its logo is a leaping deer, with the words 'JOHN DEERE' under it. The logo of the leaping deer has been used by this company for over 135 years. Over the years, the logo has had minor changes and pieces removed. Some of the older style logos have the deer leaping over a log. The company uses different logo colors for agricultural vs. construction products. The company's agricultural products are identifiable by a distinctive shade of green paint, augmented by yellow trim.

John Deere 9630

The John Deere 9630 is an agricultural tractor model manufactured by John Deere. It is one of the largest production tractors in the world, and was the largest made by John Deere upon its release in 2007 until the end of its production in 2013. The 9630 has a 530-horsepower (400 kW) six cylinder diesel engine that displaces 826.7 cubic inches (13.55 l), and was tested at 427 hp (318 kW) on the drawbar (53,666 lb_f (238.72 kN) max pull on the drawbar). The 9630 is an articulated tractor, coming stock with eight equally sized tires, duals in the front and back. Its ballasted weight ("loaded" tires, wheelweights, etc.) is over 25 short tons (23 t).

Tracked variant

The 9630 is also available with tracks instead of tires and is the 9630T. The 9630T is significantly different from the 9630 in that it is not articulated. It has only two tracks instead of being articulated and having four like an Case IH QuadTrac. This results in it having a significantly different design.

The John Deere 5220 Tractor is a utility/agricultural tractor produced by John Deere, designed for residential and farming use. Manufactured from 2000–2004, it has a 3 cylinder, 53 horsepower (40 kW) engine which produces 140 ft·lbf (190 N·m) of torque at 2400 rpm. It was available in 2wd or Mechanical Front Wheel Drive (4wd) and has a rear hitch capacity of 3,400 lb (1,500 kg). Its operating platforms where IOOS (Isolated Operators Operating Section), Cab, and Straddle Mount.
