Dan Hill

Daniel Grafton "Dan" Hill IV (born 3 June 1954) is a Canadian pop singer and songwriter. He had two major international hits with his songs "Sometimes When We Touch" and "Can't We Try", a duet with Vonda Shepard, as well as a number of other charting singles in Canada and the United States.

Early life and career

Hill was born in Toronto, the son of social scientist and public servant Daniel G. Hill, and brother of the author Lawrence Hill and the late novelist Karen Hill. He studied guitar in his teens, leaving high school at 17 to work as songwriter for RCA. At one point he was working for the Ontario provincial government, delivering office supplies, while performing at the Riverboat at night. In 1975, he released his first album, Dan Hill, which produced a Canadian hit single, "You Make Me Want to Be".

In 1977 Hill recorded the ballad "Sometimes When We Touch". He also wrote the lyrics and was assisted in the music by Barry Mann for the album from the same year, Longer Fuse, and it was released as a single. It was Hill's biggest hit, peaking at #3 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and leading to Hill's appearances on The Merv Griffin Show and The Mike Douglas Show. Tina Turner covered the song in 1978 on her album Rough.

Real Love (Lee Ryan song)

"Real Love" is a song by English singer-songwriter Lee Ryan from his debut solo album, Lee Ryan (2005). It was released as the fourth and final single from the album in 2006. The song was originally produced by Cutfather & Joe, Ash Howes, Martin Harrington, and Remee, and it was remixed by Brian Rawling and Paul Meehan for its single release. "Real Love" was not released in Ryan's native United Kingdom, due to the lack of sales for Ryan's previous singles. The track received attention for its use as the lead single for the film Ice Age: The Meltdown. The song peaked at #57 in Italy and #72 in Switzerland.

In 2008, the song was covered by Katharine McPhee and Elliott Yamin for Randy Jackson's debut album Randy Jackson's Music Club, Vol. 1. The song was released on April 21, 2008 and served as the second single from the album. According to USA Today, the song has sold 8,000 copies as of June 2008.

Real Love (Skyy song)

"Real Love" is a hit song by R&B band Skyy in 1990. Released from their Start of a Romance album, it spent one week at number one on the R&B singles chart and was the second consecutive R&B chart-topper off the album. "Real Love" also became a hit on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart peaking at number forty-seven.

Motion is a software application produced by Apple Inc. for their Mac OS X operating system. It is used to create and edit motion graphics, titling for video production and film production, and 2D and 3D compositing for visual effects.

History

The original product, codenamed "Molokini," was demonstrated on April 19, 2004.

At a pre-NAB event in April 2005, Apple released the second version of Motion along with new revisions of the other Pro applications, optimised for the Power Mac G5 and Mac OS X 10.4.

In January 2006 Apple stopped selling Motion as a stand-alone product. Introduced at NAB in Las Vegas on April 15, 2007, Motion 3 was included as part of the Final Cut Studio 2 suite.

Motion 5 was introduced on June 21, 2011. It is available through the Mac App Store at a reduced price of $49.99. Motion 5 is now sold as a stand-alone product.

Motion 5.2 was released on April 13, 2015. New features included 3D titles with extensive material, lighting, and edge options, 12 new generators, keyframe copying & pasting, improved mask and shape creation, and performance improvements.

Motion (democracy)

A motion is a formal step to introduce a matter for consideration by a group. It is a common concept in the procedure of trade unions, students' unions, corporations, and other deliberative assemblies. Motions can be oral or in writing, the written form being known as a resolution.

Proposing motions

A motion is generally proposed by an individual, usually a member of the body, for the consideration of the body as a whole. With the exception of certain incidental and privileged motions, the person making the motion, known as the mover, must first be recognized by the chairman as being entitled to speak; this process is known as obtaining the floor.

Once the mover has obtained the floor, the mover states the motion, normally prefixed with the phrase "I move." For instance, at a meeting of the board of directors of a corporation, a director may state "I move that the corporation delays the launch of the new product from April to July." If the motion was in writing, the mover would say "I move the resolution at the desk" or "I move the following resolution" and would then read it. Generally, once the motion has been proposed, consideration by the assembly occurs only if another member of the body immediately seconds the motion.

Motion in United States law

In United States law, a motion is a procedural device for decision. It is a request to the judge (or judges) to make a decision about the case. Motions may be made at any point in administrative, criminal or civil proceedings, although that right is regulated by court rules which vary from place to place. The party requesting the motion may be called the movant, or may simply be the moving party. The party opposing the motion is the nonmovant or nonmoving party.

How motions are made

In the United States, as a general rule, courts do not have self-executing powers. In other words, in order for the court to rule on a contested issue in a case before it, one of the parties or a third party must raise an appropriate motion asking for a particular order. Some motions may be made in the form of an oral request in open court, which is then either summarily granted or denied orally by the court. Today, however, most motions (especially on important or dispositive issues that could decide the entire case) are decided after oral argument preceded by the filing and service of legal papers. That is, the movant is usually required to serve advance written notice along with some kind of written legal argument justifying the motion. The legal argument may come in the form of a memorandum of points and authorities supported by affidavits or declarations. Some northeastern U.S. states have a tradition in which the legal argument comes in the form of an affidavit from the attorney, speaking personally as himself on behalf of his client. In contrast, in most U.S. states, the memorandum is written impersonally or as if the client were speaking directly to the court, and the attorney reserves declarations of his own personal knowledge to a separate declaration or affidavit (which are then cited to in the memorandum). One U.S. state, Missouri, uses the term "suggestions" for the memorandum of points and authorities.

Jana Kramer

Jana Rae Kramer (born December 2, 1983) is an American actress and country music singer. She is best known for her role as Alex Dupre on the television series One Tree Hill. Kramer began a country music career in 2012 with the single "Why Ya Wanna" from her self-titled debut album for Elektra Records.

Early life

Kramer was born in Rochester Hills, Michigan, United States, to Nora and Martin Kramer. She is of German Chilean, Croatian and French ancestry. Jana has one brother Steve who is a police officer. Jana attended Rochester Adams High School. She speaks some German.

Career

2002–11: acting career and record deal

In 2002, Kramer made her acting debut in the low-budget independent horror film Dead/Undead. The following year Kramer guest appeared on All My Children, which marked Kramer's television debut. Kramer has since continued to appear in a number of television shows such as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice and CSI: NY. She has also had small supporting roles in films such as Click, Prom Night and Spring Breakdown.
