HISTORY

LEW HOAD, founder of this Tennis and Paddle Club, was an Australian tennis player famous in the 50’s and 60’s. He won on several occasions Grand Slam competitions such as Wimbledon, the Us Open and the Australian Open. After becoming acquainted with the Costa del Sol on one of his family trips and having lived most of his life in Australia, he decided to settle in Mijas and create an old Andalusian farmhouse, an emblematic tennis club that would bear his name.

Well known celebrities of all types have visited this club throughout its history and have been fascinated by its impressive installations and magnificent surroundings. Aristocrats such as Lady Di and Alfonso de Hohenlohe; artists such as Sean Connery or Frank Sinatra; tennis players such as Tony Roche, Peter McNamara and Stan Smith; as well as politicians and large-scale financiers thanked the owners for their warm welcome in this unrivalled place, where sports, gastronomy, tranquillity and health all converged.

In 2005, the LEW HOAD Tennis and Paddle Club, under new management but maintaining the essence of always, saw the renewal of its installations and the expansion of its sports area.
