Walker Kirtland Hancock, 97, a retired Pennsylvania fine arts professor and award-winning sculptor whose work centering on religious and patriotic themes appears in several Washington locations, died Dec. 30 at his home on Cape Ann, Mass. The cause of death was not reported.

His bust of former president George Bush, which was completed in 1990 to commemorate Bush's years as vice president, is located in the Senate Chamber in the Capitol.

Mr. Hancock did a depiction of Christ that is on the central altar of the Washington National Cathedral. He did a statue of President James Madison for the Library of Congress. He also did likenesses of U.S. Chief Justices …
