SAS in Visionaries Quadrant for Marketing Resource Management Magic Quadrant
At the end of February SAS announced that it is positioned in the Visionary quadrant in Gartner Inc.'s latest Marketing Resource Management Magic Quadrant. Reasons for this includes "SAS' ability to combine its analytical and data strengths with a focus on delivering these types of marketing metrics" and this "will significantly help organisations understand their marketing effectiveness and ROI at great detail" - says Dan Thorpe, Senior Vice President and Director of Wachovia's Customer Analysis, Research & Targeting Statistics and Modelling Group. SAS' marketing resource management capabilities are part of SAS' broader customer intelligence suite of solutions.

Accenture and SAS Enhance Business Intelligence Services Capabilities
The beginning of March saw the news that Accenture plans to expand its business intelligence services through increased collaboration with SAS. The plan entails working together to enhance Accenture's SAS capabilities but also to augment SAS-based software and product development by leveraging Accenture's industry expertise. Therefore providing benefits for both parties and sharing expertise to optimise each respective business.

New SAS® Releases Offer Increased Efficiency in Fighting Money Laundering
On 19th March SAS announced reinforcement in our worldwide presence in meeting the needs of the international anti-money laundering (AML) community: SAS® Anti-Money Laundering software will now feature national language support for Arabic, Korean, Norwegian, Russian and Spanish. Additionally, the latest release will have other new capabilities. Thus this latest offering, which can take on mountains of financial information, then manage and refine that information so it becomes usable knowledge for businesses to identify and classify suspicious behaviour, will help financial institutions comply with AML solutions more effectively. Zopa Scores First with Social Lending
Zopa Designed to revolutionalise retail finance and working within the current trend for online lending and borrowing Zopa have discovered an untouched niche which fits neatly into today's financial climate. Zopa brings individual borrowers and lenders together online - social lending at an online marketplace where individuals lend and borrow money, side-stepping banks and other traditional retail credit agencies. The benefits of this sees both lenders and borrowers getting interest rates that are approximately 40% better than elsewhere due to non-core activities being outsourced. SAS software is required to make sure accurate credit scoring occurs and fulfils their objective to steer clear of 'bad-debt'. SAS� Credit Scoring was integrated into a propriety authentication and risk management system therefore playing a major role in Zopa's uniquely low bad-debt rate. Technical Event for SAS® Practitioners - 29 June 2007, London
Plan now to attend the inaugural Technical Event for SAS Practitioners on 29 June in central London. This full-day event, organised by a group of SAS experts from the UK and USA, offers a wide range of opportunities to learn about the newest tools available for practitioners who apply SAS to manage, report, analyse and display their organisation's data.

Our morning plenary keynote speaker is Allan Russell, SAS Senior Vice President of Strategy, who will discuss technical developments of SAS. The programme of practical presentations will benefit users at all experience levels, while the designated "beginners track" is designed to help newcomers to SAS learn more about its features. Early bird registration of �129 per delegate is available if you register by 8th June.

SAS Accelerates Optimisation and Delivers Power and Accessibility via SAS/OR® Software
If you need to solve large and complex optimisation problems and make best use of limited resources you may find SAS/OR® software helpful. This is SAS Operations Research Software - it enhances operations that are under constraint by completing data preparation, as well as descriptive and predictive analysis steps - therefore doing all the 'heavy lifting'. Furthermore, it uses benefits such as faster solvers, powerful new modelling syntax enabling greater expression and an improved data inputting method to increase flexibility and reusability.

SAS to Host Second Annual Business Forecasting Conference in June
Regardless of what type of business you are in, accurately forecasting the future helps your company do things like allocate resources, decide what products to introduce to the market or discontinue, predict future earnings and expenses and make countless other critical business decisions. Therefore, to facilitate your company's endeavours in forecasting, SAS have announced their second-annual business forecasting conference - F2007. The conference boasts more than 20 expert forecasting speakers from worlds of business, government and academia. The conference is to be held on 4-5 June in the USA, and with 333 forecasting practitioners attending last year's event, this year's is not to be missed.
