Kateřina Čapková

Kateřina Čapková has taught Yiddish language and literature at Charles University's Faculty of Social Sciences and frequently works with the Institute Terezin Initiative (www.terezinstudies.cz), an organization which focuses on researching Jewish history in Central Europe in the 20^th century.   She studied History and German Studies at Charles University, at the University of Vienna and in Münster (Germany). In 1997, she received an M.A. from Charles University’s Faculty of Humanities, where she received her Ph.D. in 2003. In 1998, she was a visiting student at the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies and she spent a semester at INALCO (Institute for Oriental Languages and Civilization) in Paris in 2000.

In 2005, Čapková published, in Czech, Czechs, Germans, Jews? National Identity of Bohemian Jews, 1918-1938; the English version is forthcoming. She is currently finishing a project on German and Austrian refugees in Czechoslovakia in the 1930s.
