The Machine Building Design Bureau (MBDB) was established in 1947, and later in 1993 was renamed the State Rocket Center (SRC). SRC is a leading Russian developer of the strategic submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) systems. Since the early 1960s three generations of the missile systems were developed and commissioned with the Navy. Now they constitute the core of the Russian naval nuclear strategic force, as well as they did in the former USSR. During the past 50 years, 19 complexes and their modifications featuring simple operation, high reliability and safety have been developed and put into operation. In its conversion program SRC participates in the programs of the Russian aviation and space agency, and also in development of civilian equipment and systems for the national economic. Currently, in different phases of development are peaceful launch vehicles that can be launched in different modes: from submarine launch tubes, ground-based launchers, from sea surface, from ships or aircraft, from the areas specifies by the launch customer. Also SRC participates in development and creates itself small spacecrafts. The State Rocket Center possesses a unique experimental base allowing to test the efficiency and reliability of the space products and complexes and perform its certification in accordance with international standards.
