The DfES has launched the extended schools prospectus - a publication aimed at schools and local authorities as a tool to support them in developing extended services. Copies can be downloaded from teachernet
NRT and the National Agreement
The National Agreement was designed to improve the status and conditions of all who work in schools. The NRT works with LEAs and schools to explore how remodelling can enable them to implement the contractual changes introduced by the Agreement.
NRT and extended schools
From September, the NRT will be working with all 150 local authorities to
support them in developing their plans to deliver extended services in and around schools.
Remodelling will be key to unlocking the opportunity to offer a variety of
services to pupils, parents and community.
The National Remodelling Team
The National Remodelling Team (NRT), established by the DfES and hosted by
the Teacher Training Agency (TTA), is here to support schools in making
their ideas and aspirations reality. The programme enables schools to find
their own solutions to their own individual issues and to share learning and
ideas with other schools.
We are here to help you throughout the remodelling programme by providing
guidance, support and practical help. We are headed by Dame Pat Collarbone
as Director, and work in close liaison with the Workforce Agreement Monitoring Group
(WAMG). Our team includes education and change management specialists.
From 1 September all teachers are entitled to a minimum 10 percent of their timetabled teaching time guaranteed for planning, preparation and assessment (PPA). Explore the in practice area for strategies, good practice and guidance.
Teachernet is a useful website for all who work in schools. Look out for policy updates on the extended schools agenda.
