Psychology clinic

Offering affordable psychological services to the community

Based at Adelaide University’s Magill Campus, the Psychology Clinic provides high-quality, affordable psychological services to the general community.

Psychological therapy is provided by provisional psychologists (postgraduate psychology students) under the supervision of fully qualified psychologists.

We help you find ways to overcome difficulties and cope better so that you have a healthier, happier and more fulfilled life. We offer therapeutic services for children, adolescents and adults.

In addition to our face-to-face services, we can also facilitate e-therapy or telepsychology sessions for clients who prefer not to attend a face-to-face appointment or are in rural and remote areas of South Australia.

We offer up to 20 individual sessions for adult therapy clients and up to 20 sessions for child therapy (combination of parent-only and joint parent-child sessions).

Appointments are essential.

Please note that sessions are video recorded for training purposes. Recordings are only viewed by the treating provisional psychologist and their supervisor and erased once checked; they are not shown in classes. Child assessments and therapy services will only be provided where we have permission from both caregivers.

Services

We offer therapeutic services for children, adolescents and adults in the following areas:

  • Anxiety and related disorders (panic, social anxiety, generalised anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Depression and mood problems
  • Eating disorders
  • Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and adjustment problems
  • Sleep problems
  • Child emotional and behavioural problems.

Visit Adelaide University Health Clinics’ website for more information.

Services are provided by Master of Psychology students under the supervision of experienced, fully-qualified psychologists. The Clinic provides provisional psychologists with essential experience to develop practical expertise.

Please note that referrals may be prioritised according to student training needs and capabilities. New clients will be offered appointments prior to offering appointments to returning clients.

We offer appointments in person at Adelaide University Magill Campus. Telehealth services are available for clients who may not be able to attend appointments in-person.

Please contact us to request an appointment by completing the enquiry form via the link below, or by phone. Please note, wait times vary and may be between one week and 18 months, depending on the service, demand and student capacity but we will respond to your enquiry promptly.

Students are trained to provide courses of therapy, typically consisting of 6-20 weekly sessions following assessment. This service is unlikely to suit people looking for 'one-off' or occasional counselling sessions.
