Our latest research on Gen AI shows the UK has more to gain than any other G7 country. It could almost double the UK’s long-term growth rate within 15 years. Other key points from the research: - We need to shift our thinking on talent – it often moves too quickly onto job displacement, rather than how to use the technology to amplify human abilities and brilliance - Organisations are struggling to move their use of Gen AI beyond pilots – most (89%) have not scaled its use - There is a skills gap - nearly two-thirds of today’s workforce need reskilling - 1 in 10 organisations are using gen AI at scale, so we know it can be done if the right formulas for success are in place.  #GenerativeAI #Accenture

Prof Sir John Bell, president of the Ellison Institute of Technology Oxford, tells the [Today] programme that his answer to reforming the NHS is not “pouring more money or indeed pouring more people into the system”. He doesn’t believe the NHS is underfunded, but “we need to get better at using the money”. If you really want to understand what policy changes Kemi Badenoch will be campaigning for, then it's worth skimming through her paper "Conservatism in Crisis: The Rise of the Bureaucratic Class" - which formed the basis of her leadership campaign www.renewal2030.org.uk. In this paper "tech" was only mentioned four times. And two of those mentions was in the following paragraph: "The bureaucratic class has a clear economic cost. But even more importantly, there can be no reform of the public or private sector while the bureaucratic class dominates. The bureaucratic class argues we need ‘less ideology’ and more ‘technocratic’ solutions. But such technocratic solutions invariably just mean more powers for the bureaucratic class." In a similar way to her ticking many of the diversity boxes, perhaps her deeper knowledge of the technology industry will allow her to say things about diversity and technology that others don't or cannot. In summary, "technocratic solutions" are not something Kemi Badenoch necessarily sees as a "good thing" and I don't think the tech industry (and all it stands for) will necessarily be supported in the way the tech industry might be hoping for, given Kemi Bandenoch's background with a degree and MEng in computer systems engineering. It will, indeed, be interesting to see how things unfold.

Standardisation pioneer oneNDA, in partnership with SimpleDocs, has launched oneClick, a new system designed to speed up the deployment of its model NDA and remove organisational friction when contracting with it. Artificial Lawyer spoke to both companies about the project. Big congrats to Electra Japonas and Preston Clark 👏 - this is the way! P.S. Delighted to attend the FT Live AI summit earlier this week. Some really insightful panel discussions and workshops covering a range of important topics, from the need to balance innovation and regulation, how to scale safely, and how GenAI is really impacting the workforce. Also some fascinating examples of where organisations are succeeding in adopting GenAI and seeing the value.   Six key takeaways:   1. All eyes are on the incoming US administration and how it will approach AI regulation - and how organisations will navigate between the US approach and the EU AI Act 2. Managing AI risk is absolutely top of mind, but which governance structures are the most effective at the enterprise level is still being worked through 3. There seems to be a consensus that GenAI isn't going to replace workers. But GenAI enabled workers will replace those that don't adopt AI. However this also makes the value case much more complex 4. GenAI is still being primarily adopted as a personal productivity tool rather than baked in to enterprise workflows. Whilst integration at the workflow level is increasing, overall this is still at a relatively early stage 5. A growing recognition that smaller LLMs running on edge devices may help address both sustainability concerns (lower compute footprint) and improve efficacy (better tuned to specific use cases). This is impacting model selection, solution architecture, AI technical strategy. 6. There is lots of excitement around the potential of Agentic AI (fully autonomous workflows). This is really at the demo stage currently, and potentially adds a whole new level to AI governance if enterprises want to adopt it So still huge opportunity and big challenges to solve, in a fast moving space.
