Culture at the Heart of Business Transformation Last week, we enjoyed hosting customers & partners at World Forum London and EXECUTIVE CIRCLE where we explored how to put AI to work. Seeing so many make new connections and share experiences underlined to me how important it is to continue to find ways to share progress and experiences. In the newest episode of our ServiceNow EXECUTIVE CIRCLE podcast, Gina Gill, Chief Strategy Officer at the Central Digital and Data Office (CDDO) for the UK government, discusses how tech transformation provides an opportunity to reevaluate strategic vision, values, and employee skill sets. She emphasises aligning culture with your digital investments to drive outcomes that benefit both employees and citizens. As I shared at last week’s event, #AI plays a pivotal role in unlocking opportunities to improve efficiency and productivity. But it’s not just about technology—modernisation of processes and cultural change must go hand-in-hand. Gina highlights the importance of cultural transformation within the civil service to fully integrate digital processes across public services. Listening as I took off for our Santa Clara HQ, I learnt how Gina is putting people, purpose, and customer experience at the heart of your transformation can unlock new growth and efficiency. BT Group create Strategy and Change unit with a seat on the ExeCo headed on an interim bases by a McKinsey & Company Partner.... This move underscores the crucial relationship between strategy and change, essential for achieving not just meaningful, but sustainable transformation. I have long argued that relationship between strategy and change is vital when you are you trying to achieving not just meaningful transformation but sustainable transformation. A well-defined strategy alone is not enough; effective execution through robust change management processes is equally vital. By combining #Strategy & #Change, BT Group emphasises the importance of clear communication, stakeholder engagement, and organisational agility in navigating successful, complex transformations - a challenge many organisations struggle to address. Here's why aligning Strategy and Change Management is such a powerful move: 1️⃣ Integration of Vision and Execution: This alignment ensures strategic objectives are actionable and effectively executed across the group. 2️⃣ Minimising Resistance to Change: Consistent messaging fosters employee buy-in and engagement at all levels, mitigating resistance effectively. 3️⃣ Optimising Resource Allocation: Better alignment ensures investments support strategic goals and defined outcomes. 4️⃣ Enhancing Organisational Agility: Integration drives prompt responses to market dynamics, customer needs, and emerging opportunities. 5️⃣ Sustaining Transformational Efforts: Ongoing change management efforts reinforce new behaviours and align actions with strategic goals, ensuring sustainability. BT Group's move goes beyond rhetoric; it operationalises the interdependency between strategy and change management. As someone who has held a global leadership position as Chief Transformation Officer, I understand the challenges of bridging the gap between strategy and execution. This alignment addresses this challenge, reducing waste and maximises the impact of change initiatives.

"There’s a big difference between restructuring and transformation. Transformation, to my mind, is more ambitious. It’s taking the company from point A to point B, where getting to point B opens more potential for the company." - Tufan Erginbilgiç, CEO of Rolls-Royce. Shortly after assuming the role of CEO at Rolls-Royce in January 2023, Tufan Erginbilgic, embarked on a mission to tackle the company's challenges head-on. Facing dwindling profits and navigating the aftermath of the COVID-19 aviation downturn, Erginbilgiç prioritized a strategic overhaul to pave the way for a new era of growth at the 120-year-old manufacturer. Drawing from his extensive experience as a former bp executive, Erginbilgiç implemented crucial measures such as business unit reorganization, contract renegotiation, and cost-cutting initiatives. However, he understood that a successful turnaround required more than just strategic changes—it necessitated a fundamental shift in the company's culture. In a recent interview with McKinsey & Company's senior partner Michael Birshan, Erginbilgiç emphasized the importance of distinguishing between restructuring and transformation. For him, transformation goes beyond mere changes; it involves propelling the company from one point to another, unlocking new potentials along the way. To learn more about CEO Tufan Erginbilgiç's insightful approach to corporate transformations, check out the full conversation here: #RollsRoyce #CorporateTransformation #BusinessLeadership #Strategy #Innovation

🌍 Navigating the Path to Carbon Neutrality: Reflecting on a Transformative Workshop Experience 🌱 Last week, alongside my colleague Corinne Hirzel-Andréan, I had the opportunity to participate in a captivating workshop focused on one of the most pressing issues of our time: carbon footprint. The workshop, aptly named "2tons," refers to the 2 tons of CO2 emissions per year per person that each individual must achieve by 2050 to comply with the commitments of the Paris Agreement, aiming to keep the increase in global temperature below 1.5 degrees. Reflecting on this, I must admit my carbon footprint is currently much higher... 😔 So, what can I do individually, and what can we do collectively? Within a small, diverse group, we embarked on a collective journey to deepen our understanding of the levers driving the transition towards a low-carbon future. Through engaging discussions, we envisioned pathways towards achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, evaluating tangible solutions across sectors such as food, transportation, industry, and energy. As the "ecological minister", I proposed measures to develop biogas, inspired by another participant successful transition from charcoal to biogas in his own company. By adopting a systemic approach, we analyzed the roles of governments, businesses, communities, and individuals in driving meaningful change. As we grappled with the challenges of climate change and inequality, the workshop served as a catalyst for introspection and action. It underscored the urgency of collaborative efforts to forge a more sustainable and equitable world for generations to come. 💪 Let us heed the lessons learned and embark on a collective endeavor to navigate the complexities of the climate crisis. Together, we can pave the way towards a greener, more resilient future. #ClimateAction #Sustainability #CarbonNeutrality 🌍 2tonnes Corinne Hirzel-Andréan @Julianadavis Jean-René Levy @julienclery Do you want to estimate your own carbon footprint? https://lnkd.in/edYZJFSc

🔍 Preventing Incoherent and Incongruent AI Optics with the 7 C-Suite Lenses 🔎 Jazz Rasool, Director, AI Coaching Alliance A presentation at the 7th Digital Leaders Week UK Conference 18th October 2024 11.30am-12.30am UK/London Time. Book at: https://lnkd.in/eBuQ6taJ When a business chooses to adapt to the effects of Artificial Intelligence on their operations or chooses to Adopt AI to enhance its operations, it must first get the optics right in communications with shareholders, customers or stakeholders. A business could focus on simply demonstrating Competence through Coherence based generation of Content for marketing or internal engagement. It might focus more on getting the Context right focusing on ethical, inclusive and Compliance based rollout of tools and technologies as well as ensuring programs have Congruence with the business's vision, values, mission and objectives. Whatever approach it takes to sell its strategy it will have to answer to the Culture of the organisation. The way a business prioritises these 7 lenses -of Culture, Context and Content as well as Compliance, Congruence, Coherence and Competence, will determine the optics of how the business is perceived in it's credibility and capability as well as the commercial acumen of executives in C-Suite roles. So, what strategies are there for putting out the right optics based on these lenses? What are the consequences of choosing a configuration of lenses for a particular desired scope, scale and sophistication of AI Adaptation or Adoption? How can this prevent internally and mutually incoherent and incongruent policies being implemented for AI, Ethics, Diversity as well as ESG? What are the dangers and the dividends?
