Keir Starmer’s announcement today couldn’t have come at a more poignant moment—both personally and professionally. For those who don’t know, my MBA dissertation focused on the impact of AI on the business support industry. Something I've been passionate about for a while! One of my most compelling findings? Business owners and leaders already expect their advisors to not just talk about AI but to actively use it. In other words, those advising companies should lead by example, leveraging AI tools to improve their own practices and deliver better results, extending to both public and private advisors. Today’s announcement echoed this sentiment. The plan calls for the government to “rapidly pilot” AI-powered services—an initiative designed to drive better citizen outcomes and boost productivity nationwide. With the best of these pilots being scaled across the UK, paving the way for a transformative era. I rarely go a day without discussing AI with business leaders. It’s a space of constant evolution, and I’m always exploring new tools to integrate into my own practice. This isn’t just about staying ahead—it’s about leading change, supporting clients, and unlocking the incredible opportunities AI offers. Let’s face it, AI isn’t a going away! It’s a revolution similar to the internet or email. The sooner we embrace it, the sooner we can harness its potential. If the US wants to make technology commercialization a national priority and competitive advantage, two critical changes are needed: 1. Improve graduate-level STEM workforce development so that our best problem solvers make high impact transitions out of academia 2. Improve startup success rate by focusing on profound problems that need to be solved rather than profound technologies we'd like to see commercialized. This great editorial by Tanya Ramond, PhD MBA makes a great case for both.

May Habib and DreamWorks co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg engage in a fireside chat at Writer's AI Leaders Forum. What drives Jeffrey: Exceeding the expectations of first, the people I worked for, and later, for the people who worked for me, and exceeding the expectations of my friends and my family. Next month is his 50th wedding anniversary. "It has always been foundational for me to be excited for today - I never wake up and think about what I've done in the past. I'm consumed by what is in front of me." Jeffrey was president of Paramount at age 30. He is founding partner at WndrCo. Jeffery emphasized the importance of storytelling. May added we all have to get better at selling the AI story to the C suite. Jeffery called out: Finding products that are real - with a fundamental utility value. 'We invest in AI not as an asset class, but something that will move the dial in the enterprise.' Is your solution better, faster and cheaper - AI products have to do all three? The C-Suite feels 'wow, this is a tsunami of change,' and yet we know so little about it. It's hard in that tsunami to get your head above and navigate your way through it. 'They are not in this AI world everyday. They don't have the bandwidth. They are too busy running their businesses.' Q. Why can David beat Goliath in AI? A. It's not a zero sum game. There are extraordinary things the Goliathd do that the Davids can't, and vice versa. Goliaths need the Davids to succeed. It makes their platforms even more successful. Working in marketing has been both a rewarding and challenging journey, particularly as a Black woman in a space where our voices aren’t always amplified. Marketing isn't traditionally viewed as male-dominated in the same way fields like engineering or finance are, but when you look closer—especially at leadership roles and decision-making positions—you begin to notice the disparities. I entered marketing passionate about creativity, storytelling, and making brands come alive, but I quickly realized that having a seat at the table wasn’t always enough. The challenges of navigating a male-centric environment, coupled with being a woman of color, meant I often had to speak louder, push harder, and ensure that my ideas were heard. It’s easy to feel outnumbered, especially when you're often the only woman of color in the room, but that’s where courage comes in. Finding my voice meant stepping into my power and realizing that my unique perspective wasn’t just valuable—it was necessary. Marketing is about connection, diversity, and understanding your audience, and who better to bring that to the table than someone whose identity itself challenges the status quo? I’ve learned that courage isn't just about speaking up but about believing in the value of what you bring. It’s about knowing that your voice doesn’t just add to the conversation—it can shape the conversation. The journey isn’t always easy, but as Black women, we’re more than equipped to take on these spaces and make them our own.

🎙️ My second NPR podcast on Pivotal Moments™…created by #GenAI 🤖 is improved through a new Customize Audio feature. 💻 This weekend I fed #notebookLM (Google) an introduction to my framework on Pivotal Moments™. More excitement...and a bit of Halloween scare. ✏️ Exciting development: New “Customize Audio Overview” to allow structure or how the conversation should take shape has improved narrative logic since my last test. It allowed me to add emphasis and down a complex framework by connecting my own overview. It also shared additional contextual examples by connecting real-world examples not implicitly mentioned in my uploaded document. 🤯 A bit more Halloween scare: Engagement between the two AI-generated speaker-hosts continues to be a bit bizarre in logic. It's producing faster than spoken time. Although I didn't feed it everything, it connected some dots regardless. The LLM also created “personal” humor with antidotal messages such as “they (Journeys) are like a map that shows you the highway, but not the interesting rest stops along the way.” - Ok AI, how interesting are highway rest stops? 🤣 ❌ It does drift from accuracy on a few assumptions or incorrect explanations, yet the new abilities to structure the discussion are improving at a phenomenal clip. ❓ Would I publish as a podcast? Undecided but I know this may be where we are headed given speed and accuracy.  Would you subscribe to a GenAI-tagged podcast?
