Over the last three years our web design and build business has grown threefold, alongside a rapidly growing digital marketing portfolio of clients. So much so, that our specialist digital services now account for almost 50% of our turnover. I’m especially proud of our team here, as many ‘traditional’ advertising and creative agencies have struggled to make the switch to the digital world, especially for more complex technical delivery. (And we were no exception, starting out as a pure-play ad agency in 1996.) Thanks to a team of really smart people here (plus some who are no longer with us) we are now breaking through to a higher level of technical capability, where no project is too big or too complex for us. An example of this was the Traffic Scotland website [https://lnkd.in/e3P77giA] which was awarded a Silver at last year’s Marketing Star Awards. With a huge volume of data feeds and integrations, complex mapping and filtering, and the top level of DSSS accreditation required, the two-year project was a significant challenge. But our team took it in their stride, supported by a wonderfully collaborative client. The last six months or so have been especially productive. We have launched or relaunched no less than 14 websites - the production line has been at full capacity. From time to time our Technical Director had moments when he went all Scotty - “She canna take any more, Cap'n! She's gonna blow!” as the team juggled and worked extra hours to keep to deadlines. There was an interesting session on #sportforclimateaction at COP29 Azerbaijan where impact on athletes performances , future of sports, investments and best practices were discussed. World Climate Athletes has been working for a long time now to create “access to capital for grassroots clubs” an innovative concept much liked and validated at COP29 Azerbaijan with global banks, sports bodies and institutions, large corporations and fund managers as well as the United Nations. Most probably pilot will be with #Cricket. Marylebone Cricket Club has always been at the forefront of making cricket a more sustainable sport through #efficientenergy consumption, #wastemanagemet and #groundwaterharvesting amongst other things. An absolute pleasure. The conversion was rich in solutions rather than a perspective of reactions. Often we look to mitigate the impact of society on our young people. Rather than looking to remove any barriers that they may face. It was great to get back to the core, with a group of individuals who which to use sport, not only as a mechanism for a professional avenue, but more to draw away the skills that sport teaches us. Having played full time football and part time in non-league. Even being lucky enough to move onto the Conference. All whilst running a business. Sport has taught me the following: - hard work is not negotiable, - just because you like something it doesn’t make the grind any easier, - resilience is a must in any walk of life, - team work is essential to build morale and culture, - you must be willing to pick others up around you where they need a helping hand. These are the same principles that I have applied to life and here at Bouncing Statistics whilst I wish for young people to learn these vital skills and values also.

From watching the football results through a shop window, to crowding around a newstand to grab sight of the daily headlines (or tuning in to those "extra extra read all about it" cries that presaged clickbait), news consumption has arguably always been bifurcated to an extent... You probably either got the gist (at best), or you paid and got the whole story (and, hopefully, the facts). But this report from The House of Lords Communications and Digital Committee paints a picture of how the news ecosystem's polarisation is becoming not just more pronounced, but more dangerous. This isn’t just a public health crisis; it’s a sustainability issue. Inactivity increases healthcare costs, weakens resilience to climate impacts, and contributes to unsustainable urban development. 💡 The Opportunity for the Sporting Goods Industry Physical activity, including active mobility like cycling and walking, is a high-impact, cost-effective solution. It improves health, reduces emissions, and advances multiple SDGs, including SDG 3 (Good Health) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities). ⚽ Our Call to Action To truly make a difference, the sporting goods industry and sports must: 1️⃣ Show up in key decision-making moments like COP discussions to advocate for sport and physical activity as sustainability solutions. 2️⃣ Align our voice as an industry to amplify our impact and influence. 🏅 We’ve already seen the power of collaboration in action: earlier this year, 48 companies joined World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI) to issue a historic statement on addressing physical inactivity. Hedkayse, University of Northampton, HITIQ & Northampton School for Boys are working in collaboration to investigate the effects of rugby impacts in youth players. The short-term and long-term consequences of sustaining a concussion could have profound impacts on the developing brain for children and adolescent rugby players. Recently the monitoring of concussion incidence in rugby has increased however, little is still known in relation to the pathophysiological effects of sustaining impacts in youth players. Developing an understanding of the pathophysiological responses to rugby participation on a molecular level could provide valuable insight in how to better manage an individual’s risk in this high-velocity contact sport. The aim of this study is to investigate molecular responses of male youth rugby union players to enhance player welfare.

Exciting times ahead! 🎉 Recently, I had the pleasure of taking my niece and her best friend to the Slenky "Take Your Shot Zone" in collaboration with the 'Brent Works Wembley Job Fair' at Wembley Stadium, hosted by Brent Council. Kallure was in full force, showcasing 'Shots' (opportunities) for young talent. This event was a fantastic way for young people to explore their next steps digitally, especially those uncertain about their future.   For all the young individuals out there trying to secure their next opportunity, here are my top three tips:   1. Go for it, introduce yourself, and don't be afraid to ask questions. Networking is key. The more people you meet, the more opportunities you'll discover. Don’t hesitate to strike up conversations and ask about different paths and roles. 🗣   2. Write out what you want. Passion leads to purpose. Rather than focusing on the money, aim to gain practical experience. This will help you understand what you enjoy and shape your career direction. Volunteer, intern, or take up small projects to build your skills. 📒   3. Set realistic goals. For instance, commit to applying for at least 2 jobs a day. Small, consistent steps can lead to significant progress over time. 🚦   Remember, every step you take is a step towards your future.
