There are some great themes here to help any procurement department ensure they are objectively selecting the right solution to meet their needs AND deliver the best value for money they can for their shareholders (in this case the taxpayer). Preparation is indeed key, we do our research before buying a car, a house or even a mobile phone to ensure we know what features we want and the likely cost, why would a high stakes procurement be different?

The proposed council reorganisation brings our broken local funding model into sharp focus. From my vantage point in Nottingham, I see a city council in financial distress while surrounded by affluent authorities. Adding our new East Midlands mayor creates a fourth tier of governance - yet fails to address the fundamental imbalance in how we fund local services. This isn't just about merging councils. It's about confronting an uncomfortable truth: our wealthiest areas hoard resources while city centres, which drive regional growth and handle complex social needs, struggle to maintain basic services. The solution? Beyond administrative reorganisation, we need progressive taxation at local level and funding formulas that reflect real social need. Merging authorities without addressing wealth concentration simply preserves inequality under a different structure. Data shows urban centres subsidise wider regional growth. The value created is just so important at a customer level but of course at an environmental scale too. If you are running an MSP, VAR or Dealer and have a decent database of business or public sector clients it might well be worth a call to understand how partnering with us could help you help them.
