When I am not working on payments and supporting financial institutions, I like to follow up on financial inclusion efforts. The International Financial Inclusion Conference day 1 was insightful regarding what the CBN is doing to drive financial inclusion across the board. One point that really stuck with me was Tosin’s use of Moniepoint’s data to show how women borrowers have a better loan repayment ratio compared to men, around 87% better. The keynote by Ndiamé Diop was the highlight for me. He underlined the barbell nature of economic growth in Nigeria, i.e., how growth has happened on two spectrums. On one spectrum were sectors with low productivity (subsistence farming, petty trade, etc.), and on the other spectrum were capital-intensive exports (oil and gas, mining, etc.). These created economic growth but did not directly improve the lives of citizens because the low-productivity sectors had low wages, and the capital-intensive sectors did not employ many people. The NESG CEO later referred to this as “Jobless growth,” economic growth without jobs. To address this problem, Diop emphasized the importance of export sectors that have high labor participation (e.g., manufacturing and skills outsourcing). From my research, I think this is most important because to include people financially, they must have finance in the first place, i.e., some level of income to make the whole endeavor worth it. So, one thing we should be on the lookout for is not just the government’s growth agenda but the sectors it prioritizes. When he talked about solutions, Diop mentioned two critical elements: partnerships and credit to MSMEs, which operate largely in the informal sector. This was interesting to me because I recently came across an article by Babajide Duroshola that helped reframe my mental model of the informal sector. It said that infrastructure does exist in the informal space, but it is more social than physical (community infrastructure). I think there is an opportunity to leverage those community-led institutions to drive not just financial inclusion but development. We can use those systems to help introduce technology into the agriculture sector and drive standardization of production. Standardization is important because it helps set up the traditional domestic agricultural sector to compete on the international stage. It will also help drive the “export-led high labor participation sector” talked about earlier. Overall, the session was interesting. I am looking forward to today’s session on policy and partnerships in innovation.

Let’s talk about Quishing .. It’s not a “thing” yet cause we hardly hear about it here in Nigeria but I can tell you for sure that so many people have falling victim . Organisations are not looking towards that angle (guess it mostly affects the customers and not the staff ) . The awareness isn’t enough. We go to eateries ,hotels , Malls and we just use this things ,we don’t even check thoroughly.The security Enginners or analyst will hardly go check out the QR codes to know if it have been tampered or switched . Now what’s Quishing ?? Quishing is a portmanteau of "QR" (Quick Response) and "phishing," referring to a type of phishing attack where cybercriminals use QR codes as a vector to launch their attacks. While QR codes offer a convenient way to share links, they also present a security blind spot, as the information embedded in a QR code isn't immediately visible to users. This characteristic makes it an ideal tool for attackers. Threat actors know that you ain’t going to click that link cause you’ve been properly informed about phising ,they know you will also shun their calls (vishing ) but they know that they got a chance with QR codes . Just like in phishing ,the aim is to take you somewhere for the attack to be successful,so once they succeed in luring you to Scan the malicious QR code , the process becomes the same with phising . To all Cybersecurity Professionals out there ,while creating awareness for social engineering vices ,kindly add Quishing . Threat actors will always use the existing unknown to attack , they are looking for better easier ways to attack your staff and customers.

I stumbled across a post by @Adesola o. where he had issued an ultimatum to one of the leading banks in Nigeria to convert all outsourced employee. He had also called for cancelation of outsourcing services with Nigerian banks I may be the only person that started my career as an outsourced staff that disagree with his assertion. While some organizations may have bad practise, the industry has continued to provide employment solution to our teaming population. As a Business Analyst that understands business operations, a call for 💯 conversion of employees will ultimately have a negative impact on the workers. Every employer looks at the cost of doing business, therefore, if banks are mandated to convert outsourced employees, 50% of the workers or more will lose their jobs. Personally I see most outsourced job as a waiting period. When I started my career as an outsourced employee deployed to a bank, I wasn't expecting a long stay in the role. So it is important employees in outsourced position have such mindset so they work towards personal development, continuously seeking for better opportunity to move out from the role. I feel that being in outsourced role for a long time actually blocks new entry into the system. According to NBS, there are currently over 46,000 outsourced workers employed in Nigerian banks. The outsourcing industry is definitely closing a gap in the unemployment status of the country. Hence there input should not undermined. There are organizations that have bad practise in the industry. The focus should be on such organizations. The regulating body should establish laws to regulate the activities of its members including acceptable base salary, minimum benefit for staff, speak up channel etc. My thought

𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝟓𝟔 STORY TIME: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐮𝐦😊 Emeka had been a cash officer at 𝐀𝐁𝐂 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐤 for five years. He was responsible for managing the bank's vault cash, including counting and reconciling the cash at the beginning and end of each day. One busy Friday morning, Emeka was in a rush to get the bank's doors open on time. He hastily counted the cash in the vault, but didn't bother to reconcile the figures or verify the denominations. Big mistake❗️❗️. Later that day, the Internal Control Officer, Nneoma, conducted a surprise cash count audit. She discovered that Emeka's count was short by ₦500,000 (approximately $1,200 USD). Nneoma immediately escalated the issue to the bank's management, and Emeka was summoned to explain the discrepancy. Emeka was mortified. He apologized profusely and explained that he had been in a rush that morning. However, Nneoma reminded him that cash counting was a critical control procedure that required attention to detail. The bank's management took disciplinary action against Emeka, and he was required to undergo additional training on cash handling procedures. Emeka learned a valuable lesson that day: attention to detail is crucial when it comes to cash handling, and shortcuts can have serious consequences. Less than a year after his emergence into the office of the governor of Oyo State when the unexpected pandemic broke out across the globe, COVID-19 as fondly called. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Makinde’s government was proactive in its response. This included setting up isolation centers, increasing testing capacity, and ensuring the availability of personal protective equipment (PPE) for healthcare workers. The state’s effective management of the pandemic was widely acknowledged. Healthcare Infrastructure Development Makinde's administration has renovated and upgraded several primary and secondary healthcare facilities of about over 200 across the state and planned to reach the 351 wards as promised, the first of its kind and historic. Maternal and Child Health Makinde has placed a strong emphasis on maternal and child health. Various programs have been introduced to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates.These include free health services for pregnant women, children under five, and elderly citizens. The goal is to ensure safe childbirth and reduce the prevalence of preventable diseases among young children. Medical Equipment and Technology Under Makinde’s leadership, significant investments have been made in procuring modern medical equipment and technologies. This has enhanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities in state-run hospitals, ensuring that residents receive high-quality medical care comparable to national standards Healthcare Workforce The administration has also focused on improving the working conditions and welfare of healthcare professionals. PROFESSIONALY EMPOWERED! A few years ago, while working at Access Bank Plc as a Customer Care Rep, I was eager to learn and absorb everything I could. One of my mentors advised me, “Busayo, calm down; you’ll soon see what real work is like, and you might get tired of it.” True to his words, I had challenges, receiving my first query from a sub-zonal head within two weeks. Responding to that query was daunting. I cried and sought advice from senior colleagues on how to handle it, but ultimately, I persevered. This experience significantly boosted my confidence and ignited my thirst for knowledge about my role. I focused on reducing my error rate and providing timely service to avoid similar issues in the future. My dedication and diligence paid off. I became well-acquainted with many branches on the island and built relationships with several Branch Managers, some of whom preferred to have me work with them due to my commitment and performance. Fast forward to that fateful day I received a call from my BM, (Sunkanmi Frances). She informed me that I had been selected to join the sub-zone audit team by our Zonal Head (Sholafunmi Agboola) and asked if I was interested. To be honest, the role wouldn’t come with a salary increase, promotion, or conversion to full staff. However, I accepted the position for several reasons: 1.  Deepened Understanding of Auditing: I gained a comprehensive insight into the auditing process and its various functions. 2.  Networking Opportunities: I had access to meetings and conversations with individuals beyond my current level, expanding my professional network. 3.  Empowered in Reviewing Work: I felt empowered to review and assess the work of others, enhancing my analytical skills. 4.  Engagement and Impact: I was able to engage with others meaningfully, making a positive impact during my responsibilities. 5.  Development of Soft Skills: I worked on improving my soft skills, which are essential for effective communication and collaboration. 6.  Career Path Development: I was able to build a career trajectory in auditing, positioning myself for future growth in the field. Taking on this role came at a cost, as it was more demanding than my previous position. However, I recognized it as an opportunity to serve customers exceptionally from the back end. I was committed to helping the organization reduce error rates, manage risks, and avoid potential sanctions. Our team succeeded in assisting several branches in the sub-zone, elevating their audit results from acceptable to satisfactory ratings. This accomplishment was deeply rewarding and reinforced my belief in the importance of our work. I’ve since been entrusted with various functions and decision-making roles alongside senior colleagues.
