We are pleased to announce that Ageas has reached an agreement with the UK over 50s specialist, Saga plc.. This partnership includes a 20-year partnership to distribute Motor and Home insurance products to Saga's customers in the UK, set to go live in Q4 2025. Additionally, Ageas UK will acquire Saga's Insurance Underwriting business, Acromas Insurance Company Limited, subject to regulatory approvals. This agreement is well aligned with Ageas’s Elevate27 strategy, leveraging our strong European presence in Non-Life, expanding our business scale and advancing progress in key areas that cater to the needs of the ageing population. The combined expertise of Ageas and Saga will enable us to more effectively serve the growing over 50s customer segment, driving innovation and competitiveness. The cost of claims. The cost of settling claims. How do they relate to each other? The best claims departments will know this. It’s not linear - throwing more resource won’t automatically get your costs down. It’s not about ‘lifecycle’. Pushing customers down a standardised route to try and reduce people cost won’t reduce claims costs. No two claims are the same. It won’t get solved with automation. Not yet anyway. Not on its own either. It will be a mix of understanding your demand against perils, aiming for the ‘perfect’ flow of work. Having the minimal handoffs, being able to absorb variety, and continually changing. Having the right pinpoint and to the second data. These will allow for those costly claims to be managed quickly by the right people and suppliers, and those low value claims to be settled at the first value digital or call demand. It’s actually counter-intuitive. The above will lead to the most efficient claims costs serviced by the most efficient claims team costs.
