EDIT 2 - Pay.UK have confirmed these are Nov figures, despite labelling, and have been withdrawn Direct Debit volumes dropped 6% in 2024 according to Pay.UK - how? With the UK population growing, the number of households growing and positive attitude towards Direct Debit at an 85% all time high across all ages and groups, this is very odd. In my 35 years, DD volumes have NEVER declined year on year. Are there sectors in decline or consolidating? (we'll have to wait for the sector breakdowns) Is there a significant increase in defaulting? Or is this, along with the 15% increase in FPS SIPs payments, a sign of consumers wanting to push individual payments? What are your views on this?
