Shortly after assuming the role of CEO at Rolls-Royce in January 2023, Tufan Erginbilgic, embarked on a mission to tackle the company's challenges head-on. Facing dwindling profits and navigating the aftermath of the COVID-19 aviation downturn, Erginbilgiç prioritized a strategic overhaul to pave the way for a new era of growth at the 120-year-old manufacturer. Drawing from his extensive experience as a former bp executive, Erginbilgiç implemented crucial measures such as business unit reorganization, contract renegotiation, and cost-cutting initiatives. However, he understood that a successful turnaround required more than just strategic changes—it necessitated a fundamental shift in the company's culture. In a recent interview with McKinsey & Company's senior partner Michael Birshan, Erginbilgiç emphasized the importance of distinguishing between restructuring and transformation. For him, transformation goes beyond mere changes; it involves propelling the company from one point to another, unlocking new potentials along the way. 🌎Climate change continues to be a real threat to our planet. We all want to play our part and I was pleased to see IBM’s new platform, Environmental Intelligence, launched at #Think2024 last week. For organisations to play their part and deliver sustainability goals we need the best possible data. A recent IBM Institute for Business Value study found that: ➡️82% of executives believe that high-quality data and transparency are necessary to achieve sustainability outcomes; ➡️But, only 40% of organisations can automatically source sustainability data from core systems including ERP, EAM, CRM, Energy Management or Facilities Management systems.
