Great news for recruiters focussing on both UK and EU based start-ups. Early-stage funding rose 38% from €1.3bn in January to €1.8bn in June, and accounted for 82.8% by number of H1 deals and 19.7% (€9.3bn) by value of funding. European start-ups raised €47.3bn in equity, debt and grant funding across 2,971 rounds from January to June this year according to Sifted. Of this €10.3bn (€22m per deal on average) was raised in London, €13.3bn in the UK overall. In the first half of 2024 London based start-ups generated the highest number of deals in Europe, with the UK as a whole also beating other countries on the total amount raised (at €13.3m). 5,006 investors injected capital into Europe’s start-ups in the first half of 2024, and 195 of them made at least 5 investments. Eight new European companies achieved $1bn valuations in H1 2024, more than the whole of 2023. Over €15bn of fresh capital has been raised by Europe's VCs so far this year, the most since the first half of 2022. #Startups #fundraising #venturecapital

In Q2 of this year in the UK the average Perm Consultant made 4 placements and the average Temp Consultant made 6 placements. (UK) When we looked at the consultants at the Top 5 agencies on Recruiter Insider for Candidate Experience, we discovered that: 🚀 the average Perm Consultant there made 5 placements 🚀 the average Temp Consultant made 10 placements. In Q2 alone, the agencies with the highest candidate experience scores made 1 extra Perm placement per consultant and an 4 extra temp placements per consultant. Highlighting as always the impact candidate experience has on your placement numbers. The data doesn’t lie, an improved candidate experience means more placements. As we enter month 6 of the platform we’re now heavily centring our focus on our B2B suite. We’ve staffed several niches, one recently being the Finance and Banking sector. Of all the types of businesses we worked with the most sceptical we could deliver was people for the IB space due to technical aspects of the role and hidden nuisances. The appetite to hire good 360 billers in the London recruitment market remains very buoyant. I am eager to set calls up with recruiters billing £200k plus in any specialist market who; *Work for a firm who does not pay a third of what they bill. *Work for a firm that has a toxic culture. *Work for a firm where they do not have full transparency around their progression. *Work for a firm that does not value them. There are many great firms in the sector, many of which I am proud to call our clients. The rest are agencies where their staff could do the same job, but just in much nicer conditions where they are fairly rewarded. I honestly find it amazing how many good people stay put in average firms. I often ask those who eventually become wise to their set up, "why did you stay so long"? The answer is always the same... Looking forward to our trip to London next week... The data for Q1 '24 vs Q4 '23 in terms of job vacancies is positive. Yes, 2023 was a tough year for UK FS recruitment - the global banks cut jobs, the Big 4 firms cut jobs due to a reduction in M&A activity and there were of course the high profile cuts in Hedge Funds. However, hiring and cutting in FS in cyclical and inevitably too many cuts are made. The numbers are encouraging...Goldman Sachs are leading the way by bringing back uncapped bonuses and others will have to follow. Anecdotally, the conversations I'm having with hiring managers, Talent Acquisition / Business Development and potential job seekers also suggests positivity. B2B sales = where the progression and reward is as a salesperson If you’re serious about your sales career then you’ll need this experience. Particularly if you want to break into tech sales. If you have any cold outreach, prospecting or outbound calling on your CV from a B2B environment then use it. That’s transferable. And if you don’t, then it might be worth considering other B2B sales roles as a stepping stone. Sometimes it’s better to earn and learn.
