10 years later… back where it all began. On Wednesday, I had the opportunity to return to my former secondary school and sixth form, HERTSWOOD ACADEMY to support the Year 12 students with their interview preparation. It was an incredible experience speaking with 5 bright, ambitious students and helping them get ready for future apprenticeship, university, and job interviews. From aspiring aerospace engineers to future business leaders and financial analysts, their energy and enthusiasm were truly inspiring. A few students even expressed an interest in pursuing careers in financial regulation after studying mathematics and business, something close to my own journey. I was able to share practical advice on interview techniques, using the STAR method to structure responses, and the importance of asking insightful questions at the end of an interview. Having spent the past 7 years working in finance, it felt meaningful to pass on some of the insights I’ve gained. Thank you to Hertswood Academy for having me. It was a privilege to be part of such a valuable initiative. Hopefully, it won’t be another 10 years before I’m back!
