The losses at Birmingham City Council are quite staggering, and could top £200 million - for the implementation of a piece of software. OK, it's complicated stuff, but what should have cost £19 million will be 10x more. Why? I'm sure a public enquiry will find out, but is this the right way to implement technology in local government? From my experience, in local government and healthcare, we leave individual councils and health authorities to make the same mistakes over and over. Where is the shared knowledge and learning? I believe that the government should offer IT services to councils and build country-wide centres of excellence that can gain from the economies of scale - both knowledge and financial savings. Then councils can get on and do what they should be doing - looking after local people. The UK needs a total rethink on the delivery of IT within the public sector, because the skills needed are clearly lacking and the degree of complexity (plus implications of getting it wrong are so huge) are increasing exponentially. Sometimes, it’s only when you stop and write it all down that you take stock and appreciate all the amazing things that have been happening. This morning #TeamNamos presented to some of the UK&I sales and customer success org at Oracle. As we are head towards Namos' FY24 close, we’ve reflected and celebrated our growth and achievements. When I was planning the presentation the full capability of our amazing team becomes apparent, from large scale transformation programs to smaller optimization pieces we’ve had touch points across so many customers. It’s super exciting to be able to say that we don’t just focus on one or two industries but that we work across the UK&I Oracle marketplace. Customers that want a personable, partnership - in conjunction with oracle - that want to innovate and optimize their solution, that want to grow their capability, want more than a fix on fail support then Namos Solutions is a partner they should be talking to. We’ll be at the UK Oracle User Group in a couple of weeks, team Namos experts will be there presenting on everything from HCM to ERP and AI RAG.
