Nike’s new advert has pissed a lot of people off… and that’s exactly why it’s a GREAT advert let me explain 👇🏾 Great advertising doesn’t aim for universal approval; great brands know that you have to STAND FOR something if you want to create a cult following. They also realise that the minute you stand for something, you are automatically STANDING AGAINST something else. ✅ If you want to build a brand, you have to piss off 80% of people to connect with your 20%. ✅ Brands piss people off, products don’t, but brands do. In this advert Nike STANDS AGAINST losing (and some of the traits stereotypically associated with it) and in doing so they loudly and unapologetically scream “NIKE IS FOR WINNERS” in the most piercing and provocative way. Most people won’t resonate with it, but critically, the 20% that do will now love the brand even more. 🤷🏽‍♂️ 99% of brands don’t have a problem with their marketing “tactics”, they’re just too scared of being disliked. 🤬 If someone isn’t cussing at you in your comments section you’re probably playing it too safe. Congrats to Nike and the W&K team. Iconic.

Over the last 3 months we've generated over 13 Million impressions & hundreds of thousands of engagements across TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram & Facebook for Cameo Apples. Here's what we've learnt: 1. Tapping into trends IS NOT ENOUGH ↳ YES it's a great way to generate lots of organic reach & engagement. But that's not enough! If you want to drive SALES, you have to creativey promote your product within a trend. Some of our most popular videos literally show our team going into store & purchasing the apples. 2. Evolve or Die ↳ We've been working with Cameo Apples for 5+ years now & what worked back then DOES NOT work now. It's so important to not get complacent. Last year, TikTok was a new platform we tested & it drove huge growth. This year we started testing YouTube Shorts & it was almost 75% cheaper to reach the same amount of people on TikTok. 3. Always be testing ↳ EVEN if your current strategy is killing it. It's so importat to keep testing absolute curve balls. We've tested a huge variety of content over the last 3 months. Some has flopped. But some has genrated millions of views & had a huge impact for the brand. If we didn't do so much testing, we wouldn't find the absolute GEMS! Customers want choice. What I thought was really good about BST Hyde Park is the choice of tickets effectively created from nothing (it’s a park). You can get anything from general standing to terrace seating including hospitality and everything in between including access to different exclusive bar areas. None are cheap, that’s true but if you’ve got the money for a ticket, there are many opportunities to upgrade your experience in a clear pricing ladder. Whatever you’re selling, customers like to feel in control of what they’re purchasing and they’re active in their decision-making. BST could have just had one price bracket - everyone standing in a field but they created opportunities to always have products to upsell. This is also defensive, if people buy the cheapest tickets, they’re less likely to complain they were at the back or the toilets were awful. Because if they know if they wanted a better experience, they could have upgraded. People are generally happy if they get quality for money at whatever level they pay. In the shared living sector, customers get it. They expect to pay more for a bigger or better room or flat. But you have to be able to justify it and show it. Square footage doesn’t mean a lot to the general public (and mostly this just means more floor) so you have to look to create choice another way. #salesexperience #customerjourney #salestechniques

Super productive week. Arranging TV ads, filming social ads, designing brochures and books — shooting website product images and launching 3 websites. All while publishing content for our clients every day on LinkedIn, facebook, YouTube, instagram, TikTok and running email campaigns and squeezing in meetings too. It’s been a rollercoaster and if you blink you’ll miss it, can’t believe it’s almost Friday. What content do you value most for your marketing as a business?

I beg you not to order our new freebie... (if you read one LinkedIn post today make it this one) I thought we were being really clever.. It turns out I have created an 'anti-sleep device' that works incredibly well. Let me explain: All founders will agree that their product is king. However, one of the biggest challenges SMEs face is getting their product into customers' hands as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible. In January, we designed a letterbox-friendly free sample that would allow us to get our super fresh ground coffee into thousands of people's hands. The problem? 👎🏻 - The pick and pack costs of traditional companies are too expensive so we had to find a solution. 👎🏻 - Each bag must be tamped flat to fit through a letterbox. 👎🏻 - I am writing a thank you letter on each pack. 👎🏻 - The printer is so temperamental that I now leave it plugged in. All the time. This resulted in me picking up, packing, and dispatching from my spare room, writing hundreds of thank yous, and banging these packs flat. God knows what my neighbours think of all the banging... With the printer being plugged in full time, it does mean that orders at midnight do tend to wake me up... (make the noise of a fax machine, and you're halfway there) These are some of the measures we'll go to to get a sample out to a customer. Anyway, at least hundreds of customers are waking up to the delicious smell and taste of Presto coffee. Comment 'Coffee,' and I'll send you a free pack. No Facebook. No Instagram. No Twitter. No Tik Tok. No nothing! What the bloody hell was social media in the 80’s / 90’s & early millennium 🤷🏻 That’s how it was for me growing up… It was all about in-person connections & meetings (mostly in a good old fashioned pub!) And that was the only way to get in front of people and tell them what you’re all about. Still to this day… I think meeting people face-to-face goes beyond any email, video call or WhatsApp conversation. A good old drinking session having a giggle is for me personally the best way to get to know someone. God I miss proper pubs 🥲 Meeting people this way I’ve always found that you’re able to laugh together & learn from each other, share your ideas & hear any feedback that you can both learn from in the future. Don’t get me wrong, I know times have changed and video calls are needed. But without in-person meetings, and some of the connections I’ve made, I probably wouldn’t be where I am today & I'm sure some of them wouldn’t be where they are now also 🤷🏻 So for me, I think goes without saying… In whatever business, whatever industry, making real in-person connections is what can take your business to the next level. And make you stand out from all the rest.
