Did you know The NHS offers Reiki Therapy as part of caner treatment and even offers sessions to carers of cancer patients? According to Cancer Research and NHS England Reiki Therapy a literature review (2014) looked at whether reiki could help with pain and anxiety. The authors reviewed information from various studies that had used reiki on people with cancer and people without cancer. Some of the people had recently had surgery so they wanted to see if reiki could help with pain after surgery. Others were about to have a breast biopsy and were feeling anxious. They found that after reiki, women having a breast biopsy had a reduction in their anxiety. And patients who had recently had surgery reported a decrease in their pain. The authors concluded that reiki may be helpful for pain and anxiety. As well as helping with pain management and anxety Reiki has the following benefits: ✨Relaxation ✨Helping with end of life care ✨Painfree and non invasive and can even be administered remotely. ✨Suitable for any age or condition As a Level 3 Practitioner I am able to provide this service for anyone who is unwell or having treatment. Here's a new way to think about creating content online as a psychologist in private practice...   What if creating content was an act of self-discovery rather than self-promotion?   This was the key insight from brand strategist Tania Bhattacharyya on my latest Inspiring Psychologist podcast episode.   Tania suggests that content creation starts with asking ourselves reflective questions - the ones we wish someone had asked us before. Our answers contain gems that "ripple out into the universe and scale our impact."   In other words, creating visibility online aligns beautifully with the self-actualisation principles we already apply in our psychology practices.   So the next time you sit down to draft a social media post or blog, don't worry about it being perfectly eloquent or catchy. Focus instead on self-curiosity and authentic self-expression. One of the key learning points so far from the reflexology for the menopause course that I'm doing is that stress worsens menopause symptoms.
