How is Caerphilly County Borough Council driving up to 22,000 hours a year of productivity gains for its staff? 📈 It's achieving this by optimising the intelligence behind its mobile telephony procurement process. 🚀 The majority of councils employ around 30-40% of their staff in mobile roles that don't take place in an office environment. These include services such as social care, waste management and housing. As these workers are constantly on the move - a dependable mobile connection is essential to access work systems, speak with colleagues and call for help. When Caerphilly Council began receiving reports from its mobile workforce about poor network coverage, their innovation team decided to act.💡 Since September 2023 - Caerphilly has used Streetwave to repeatedly map mobile coverage across the county to identify the networks with the best coverage on a district by district basis. One operator was identified to have coverage in up to 11% more locations than the council's existing service provider. By switching to operators with better coverage, it is estimated that the 2,000 non-office staff across the council will save 22,000 hours of productivity a year (11 hours per employee). The value of this time is worth approximately £325,000 a year or £1,625,000 over the course of a 5 year contract. A one percent increase in SME productivity can create up to £94bn for the UK and reskilling our workforce is one of the key unlocks.

So it’s that time of year where is dust off my training gear and drive towards raising money for cancer research. Any donations would be gladly received as every little helps! The goal is to climb the height of Everest, which is 8,848m, on Snowdon, which means that I need to summit the tallest mountain in Wales at least 10 times over 3 days. I will need to cover the distance of a marathon each day, but uphill! Being someone who used the help to buy scheme to purchase my first home knows how important and useful it is to be to have the opportunity to use. Would it also mean that the children are then tied to living in the same house as their parents for two lifetimes, and so don't have the flexibility to move elsewhere to take a job? In somewhere like London it may not be a big issue since there will be a lot of opportunities within a hour's travel, so it would just be the commuting route that changes, but if you wanted to move from say Middlesborough to Bristol for a job, it could make it a lot more difficult. Also, would making such long term mortgages possible encourage house price inflation since it means that the current price is easier to afford for the masses? I suspect that a big part of the cause is people buying huses as investments, or to minimise their tax liability. In the UK, house rents are not much lower than mortgage payments for a property. In contrast, in Germany renting a property is much cheaper than a mortgage.
