I will save you all from the potential of a humble brag here and do the thing I am known best for, honesty. Here's a quick run down of some key events leading to this: - September 2013 = Set up DMPG with Tom. At the time we did not actually have any plan to scale the company. We just wanted to be in control of the what we did to ensure the best quality outcomes for our clients. - Mid 2016 = After a few years of toiling, working 100 hour weeks in many cases and struggling to bring any form of scale to what we did we decided the answer was to focus + hire. Focus on a very narrow set of services for our clients (Data Collection & Data Activation) and start building a team to actually scale this business beyond just the two of us. - End of 2017 = After some tremendous growth and some disastrous hires (among some excellent hires), we realised we had actually built a company that had an identity a culture and an ethos. We captured those and we still stand true to them today: Be The Client / Reduce Complication & Increase Value / Good Work Takes Time / Always Over-Deliver. - End of 2019 = After more tremendous growth we now saw the full potential in what we could create at DMPG. We had 20 employees by the end of 2019 and we had a clear path for how we were going to get to 80 employees. Tom and I were 'all in' on this and were prepared to reinvest every penny of profit into DMPG to make it a reality. - 2020 = This was a major test for DMPG. Initially it looked like a doomsday scenario. At the beginning of April we genuinely did not know if we'd still have a company by the end of 2020. We took the view to ignore any contractual commitments our clients may have agreed to and just work through it together, however that looked. We used all our spare time to get certified, improve internal systems and documentation. We got ourselves ready for the new post-Covid world. - 2021 = Our 'gamble' paid off - we grew 45% compared to 2020. We had also made the decision to become more global. This meant a global workforce - finding the best talent regardless of the country they were resident - and a global client footprint. We already had a few clients in North America but we launched in Australia early in 2021 and quietly prepared our North American launch. We also turned down a lot of potential buyers who just could not offer us the opportunity to scale beyond the means we already had. - 2023 = We were now up to 35 people operating in 3 regions with a globalised workforce. I could count on 1 finger the number of clients we had lost and on one hand the number of team members we had lost in the last 2 years... but growth was still slower than we wanted - 2024 = Havas were the only suiter to meet our high demands for a buyer. A combination of like-mindedness, global client opportunities and future opportunities for the DMPG team meant that we were ready to pull the trigger. I am really looking forward to what the future holds!

7 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐌𝐍𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝: The result will surprise you (at first) Previously, I explored the ratio of ad revenue to e-commerce revenue as a measure of retail media network maturity. Today, we're shifting gears by comparing ad revenue to GMV for 7 key European Retail Media Networks. At first glance, the results might surprise you—we’d expect Amazon to lead the field, but others like Zalando look better in this view. So, what's going on? Let me explain why this can be an apples-to-oranges situation: 👉🏼 When a retailer has a high share of first-party (1P) sales, their e-commerce revenue as a percentage of GMV is much higher compared to a company focused on third-party (3P) sales. 👉🏼 For example, Amazon’s dominance in 3P sales makes its ad revenue look lower as a percentage of GMV, especially when compared to competitors like OTTO or Zalando. 👉🏼 However, if we shift our focus to comparing ad revenue to e-commerce revenue instead, the story changes dramatically. Amazon, with its robust 3P marketplace, appears far more efficient at generating ad revenue compared to Zalando. It all comes down to what metric you're using. Mondelez accelerates #marketing transformation with new DTC platform, genAI tools and a more connected data infrastructure. Mondelēz International joins other #FMCG companies in investing in generative AI to realize greater marketing efficiency and production at scale. The new #AI platform, supported by Accenture and Publicis Groupe, is focused on delivering speedier, more efficient production of personalized assets like text, images and videos to keep pace with fast-changing consumer trends. “Harnessing the power of #genAI will empower our people to play a proactive role in how our brands show up in the market,” said Jonathan Halvorson, senior vice president of global consumer experiences at Mondelēz, in a statement. Mondelez has also launched a new #DTC platform to unlock new opportunities for the brand’s OreoID customization system. While #directtoconsumer is no longer seen as the marketing panacea it once was, the sales channel can still be useful to test new products, marketing strategies, engagement tactics and pricing models. “We approach DTC as a tool for creating closer connections to our consumers and learning from them,” said Kamila De Maria, director of DTC at Mondelēz. Transitioning Oreo from Adobe’s Magento #ecommerce platform to Shopify also enables Mondelez to now sell retail packs and limited-edition flavors through its DTC shop for the first time. Building and experimenting with a more connected #data infrastructure through DTC will also be key in training the company’s generative AI infrastructure. “Building direct relationships with consumers through compelling value exchanges is at the very core of Oreo’s #marketing transformation agenda,” said Hamish Stacy, U.S. Oreo consumer data lead. #CRM data has increasingly become a focus for Oreo, as it has throughout the marketing industry, to unlock opportunities around analysis, acquisition and activation.
