I had the pleasure of presenting at the L&G Data Festival in our Cardiff office, where I introduced the concept of a Business Event Mesh. Business Events are significant changes or occurrences within business processes. This innovative approach captures these Events on a Mesh and makes them available for next best action by triggering AI Agents. Introducing AI services anomaly detection is possible. These Events can also be treated as Data Products. It has the potential for transforming how we handle real-time data across the organization, providing real value in several key areas: Predicting customer lifetime value to sharpen targeted campaigns Speeding up claims registration to improve service levels Proactively managing and preventing customer churn Streamlining data deletion and archival and management processes Tracking customer interactions to deliver more personalized services Keeping policy details up-to-date in real-time It was amazing to see the excitement and dedication around how we’re using technology and data to shape our future and better serve our customers. I spent an hour and a half last night doing some quickfire CV reviews for some seriously impressive grads last night with the team at Summer of Tech. A few highlights for me: - The SOT program is clearly working, as the grads had a very high standard of CV's throughout, with only minor tweaks and adjustments needed - The cohort I had to review was very diverse, which was encouraging -Much to my delight, there were quite a few career pivoters in the group. I love that IT is attracting people from different backgrounds - These grads are all hungry and extremely motivated, almost all of them had done their own coding or design projects While it's encouraging to see the quality and quantity of awesome graduates coming through the program, I also have to acknowledge that this is an extremely difficult economic time for most businesses. SOT has more grads in the program than ever before, but employer engagement and opportunities are staying quite low. I'd like to challenge anyone in my network who might even have a slight bit of capacity to please create an opportunity or two for these grads. We've been crying out for skilled candidates for years now, and there are over 1000 of them waiting in the wings for an opportunity. Imagine a world where you can search for a surname like O'Connor or a company name like AT&T, and not have to worry about SQL injection! <sarcasm/> FTA: "This restricts the use of punctuation marks and special characters (e.g. apostrophes, hyphens and ampersands) to avoid potential problems when searching the databases as these characters have specific meanings in computer systems."

Attended the NextGen Planners conference Elements in Liverpool last week. It’s great to further invest into the UK market to establish a clear perspective of what works across both AUS and UK; from back office efficiency and automation to ideal tech stack. I made it a mission to pinball around the stages/rooms to have as many conversations with advisers and product providers as I could. Technology in the UK Financial Planning space is heating up, similar to AUS where users report laggards have been the norm for “too long”. AI was, as you’d expect, a hot topic. Rightfully so and some of the core areas where it is (now) and is going to (future) offer real benefits: 1. Vulnerability in clients and picking this up in client/adviser conversations 2. Mining the quality of your book, using AI for this and hyper-personalising advice on that basis 3. Investment management already using AI in their delivery of investment solutions/products One area where we are working hard to help is with our AI build Paradino that streamlines the handover process from adviser to staff with more accurate and compliant information. For me, brand loyalty is only bought by product experience AND customer service. I've been a customer of IDNet for over a year now and the actual customer service they provide is second to none. A sales person for another broadband provider asked how much I pay and when they found out how much it was they said "you're definitely paying way too much for your broadband, you should switch". My question to them was "Can I get a knowledgeable human on the phone in 30 seconds with your customer service team?" he said "no". So it sounds like I'm paying the exact right amount for the service I receive. The service is so personal to the point that I spoke to Brian in their support department multiple times who remembered who I was and my issue, solved my problem and was chasing things up for me and keeping me in the loop without any prompting. A lot of companies will try over the next few years to move away from humans as customer service workers and if that leads to a worse experience you will lose customers that value the customer service you provide. #customerexperience #customerservice
