"No easy answers". Some analysis from me using Ipsos UK data that I presented at #CPC24 this week. Key point: 1 in 4 2019 Con voters stayed at home in July and those that did vote split in several different directions. Those switching to Reform and Labour both talk of change. But the key issues are different. Reform voters prioritise immigration / asylum whereas those switching from Conservative to Labour prioritise the NHS and public services. How the new Tory leader messages their offer key. Reform voters key for the Conservatives but to only target them risks wandering up a political cul-de-sac. The 2024 Ipsos Equalities Index reort highlights a strong belief in the UK that the government should be primarily responsible for tackling inequality (66%). However, interesting generational and gender differences emerge. Gen Z men are less likely to support this view (63%) compared to Gen Z women (74%) and Baby Boomer men (75%). This raises important questions about how different demographics perceive the role of government in creating a fairer society. #Equality #EqualitiesIndex #GenZ #Boomers #DiversityAndInclusion

The final Ipsos UK voting intention poll for Election 2024 has been released! Despite a slight decrease in Labour support over the past week, the party still maintains a significant 18-point lead over the Conservatives. The breakdown of voting intention is as follows: 🔴Labour 37% 🔵Conservatives 19% 🟦Reform 15% 🟠Liberal Democrats 11% 🟢Greens 9% ⚫Other 10% Another key finding from the polls is that 28% of voters are open to changing their minds. The Conservatives are retaining less than half of their 2019 voters, with Reform UK benefiting the most. There is also a noticeable increase in tactical voting, with 17% of voters choosing a party to prevent another party from winning in their constituency. When it comes to who would be the most capable Prime Minister, 36% believe Keir Starmer would be the best choice - although his ratings have dropped from 46% the previous week. 21% prefer Rishi Sunak, while 28% believe neither would make a good PM. The #EssentialDigitalSkills report shows that just over 9 in 10 (91%) of UK adults aged 18+ can independently set up a connection to Wi-Fi. Ipsos is pleased to work with Lloyds Banking Group for the fourth year on the Essential Digital Skills (EDS) study, to understand the digital capability and skills of the UK population. This skills framework is divided into three areas, Foundation Level, Life EDS and Work EDS, each with their own list of tasks that are considered vital in order for an individual to be digitally skilled and capable.
