New results announced: Our Business Events Growth Programme supports event organisers to secure international business events and increase delegate attendance at Events to Britain. During the financial years 2018-2023 it supported 62 events in 18 cities, resulting in a boost of £45.5 million to the UK economy. Every £1 invested in the programme supported £33 of revenue being generated for the British economy through new events secured, or in additional delegate spend. Looking specifically at the financial year 2022-2023, the programme supported a record 27 business events across 14 cities, almost double the number of events in cities supported in 2019-2020. These events aligned with priority sectors for the UK Government including healthcare and life sciences, technology and innovation, energy transition and environment, advanced manufacturing and education. Our CEO Patricia Yates said: “These results are testament to the importance of our Business Events Growth Programme, both to the industry and to the economy. It also demonstrates the expertise of our world-class business events sector and the quality of Britain’s offer to international delegates. As part of our recent downtime series – designed to highlight the benefits of downtime, Angellica Bell interviewed Sarah Bissell, Deputy Director of Fundraising for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH) – Premier Inn’s charity partner. Sarah gave us a great insight into why downtime is so vital when working in the charity sector. Working for GOSH, Sarah sees many families going through extremely difficult situations... so, when she gets home, she makes sure to spend quality time with her own family, including her two daughters. Sarah also makes time for exercise too. 🏃‍♂️ ‘What we do is so exciting and an amazing opportunity. The way that we do that is by going out and inspiring people to give and it’s very tempting to put a lot of your life into it! It’s taken me a long time to get there, but getting the answers you need for the big stuff is fed by seeing the outside world, which is why downtime is so important’. When it comes to finding the right balance, breaking things up and cutting off from the 9 to 5, you know that, at Premier Inn, you’ll always be able to make time for downtime. Had an incredible experience attending the Diary of a CEO speaking tour with Steven Bartlett and working alongside TEG Dainty. 📚 Steven's message of "Please FAIL More" left a lasting impact on me. When looking for a customer persona its vital that the target age range you're focusing on you have researched in detail their behaviours. You need to focus on the following. - Age - Occupation - Location - Income - Education - Tech proficiency It is also good practice to look in depth at their lifestyle, are they social media users. Someone who looks for deals, discounts, second hand items to save money. It also pays to look at how they will be shopping with you, in these modern times most people use an app on their smartphone. Their interests can range from fashion, electronics, collectibles, home decor. They're buying motivation can figure from affordability, sustainability, trends and convenience. Some key motivators are the availability of hard-to-find items, niche or limited edition.
