The seminar delved into the urgent need for reforms within Interpol, particularly addressing the misuse of its Red Notice system and transnational repression. The Fight Against IP Crime: A Global Responsibility As the world gathers in Curaçao for the INTERPOL Intellectual Property (IP) Crime Conference, it's crucial to recognize the remarkable work done by INTERPOL’s IP Crime Unit. In 2014, I had the honor of leading the Qatari team during 'Operation Al Shaheen', the first INTERPOL-coordinated operation targeting #illicitgoods and #counterfeiting in the Middle East. That same year, Qatar became the first country to request an #INTERPOLPurpleNotice after seizing a machine altering expiration dates on food and drink products. The success of these activities relied heavily on a specialized MENA officer who helped engage the region, demonstrating the impact of a focused effort in combating intellectual property crime. Though I’m unable to attend this year’s conference, I look forward to the 2025 edition and wish all participants the best in advancing this critical mission! From the OSINT Foundation Archive, the Intelligence Community's first OSINT strategy was published in April of 2006 by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. The document articulated five goals: making OSINT the source of first resort - the enabler and precursor for clandestine and technical collection; establishing a guild of OSINT experts - enabling the imbedding of OSINT in the work of all disciplines; global input - ensuring the broadest range of information is available to all consumers; single architecture - information acquired once and shared with all; OSINT innovation - capitalizing on emerging opportunities to drive innovation in tradecraft, analysis, and technology.
